Intervideo WinDVD for vaio aacs/update problems

Post by ChuckTs »

vista home premium 32-bit
Sony vaio VGN-FW275D

Intervideo WinDVD BD for Vaio came as a pre-installed app to go with my BD player in my vaio. I got an error after trying to play a new BD movie: "The AACS key has expired....Please do not close the application until the update process is finished"

If I click yes, then it tries to update the files but gives me this error in IE:
Sorry, the server is unable to process your renewal request.
Please check that you have installed the latest patch for your version of WinDVD. You can find the appropriate link below.

Once you complete the patch update, when you see the renewal message, please follow the instructions to update your AACS key.

If the problem persists, or you still have questions, you may search the Knowledge Base in the Corel Support Center, or contact us.

AACS Update Information in Corel Support.
Any patch/update I try to use basically gives me an error saying that I must have a previous version installed in order to patch properly.

Please help!

Thanks

Contact Corel for an updated AACS key:

The Sony Support website for your computer lists a WinDVD driver update (v 8.8.0.154, released 11 Apr'11):

The Sony Support updated driver specifically addresses the error notice you receive when attempting to update the AACS key.

Once you have updated the AACS key and WinDVD is working, I recommend disabling Protexis:

If you follow these steps, the AACS key will work permanently and Corel will no longer be spying on you.

TY sir! The sony support site's update alone is already letting me play the BD I was trying before, and so far no AACS errors. I assume this is because the new version means they won't be bugging me to update the key for another 18 months, not sure though. Might even have an actual standalone BD player by the time it bugs me again anyway, meh.

Corel's site sends me in infuriating loops including having to find a serial key that apparently is non-existant in order to get support for a new AACS key, so I'm really glad the update did the job itself.

Not sure I disabled protexis properly but I think so.

Thanks again, appreciate it.
