I have this same problem reocurring after installing VS PROX4: Error 1706...Wait while windows configures common....No valid source, etc.
What is the fix for this product?

Ok, split and moved it to the VS forum.
Are you installing from the DVD (boxed version) or ESD (download)? If you have the DVD, try copying the DVD to your desktop and run the install from there. Run the installer as Admin. Even if you only have a single user account on your system, and it is an Admin account, you don't have full admin permissions. That's why the UAC kicks every time you do some action that affects system settings.
