I'm converting vcr tapes to dvd
I captured 2 hours 15 minutes of video that came to 5.2gb in size. Obviously this wont fit on my 4.7 dvd so I tried to use "fit & burn". After it ran, I got an error saying I would need an additional disc.
So i decided to "create DVD folders" to see what size its "fitting" it to. Afer it completed the VIDEO_TS folder is now 5.02gb, still won't fit on a disc.
What do I need to do to get this to fit on my dvd disc?
Thanks
fit & burn not working

You can use DVD Shrink to process either an ISO file or VIDEO_TS folder structure produced by UVS.

True, DVD Shrink does do what you want. So does Nero (if you have it.) I have not been able to use Uleads shrink function successfully yet. I keep getting this illegal memory access message, and usually a windows message saying that a running program has corrupted Windows and Windows should be restarted. Since Ulead is the only program running at this time, I suppose it is Ulead corrupting Windows!

I have sent in a few Tech Support requests regarding Fit and Burn problems, maybe a little early but nothing back yet.
I tried out DVD Shrink and in about 12 minutes has an ISO that would fit on a regular 4.7GB DVD. I then set ULead (Disc Image Recorder) on a task to burn the DVD from the ISO file only to have it hang before finishing, nothing written to the DVD. Nero's trial versions are unavailable right now. This is really frustrating!!
How can something this buggy be out there in version 9 already!

Hi bnelson
Check to see if you don't have " Do not convert compliant files" active. When active fit and burn can not adjust the file size. The settings you will find when you click on the gear shaped icon at the bottom left of the create disk window. You can the further customise the settings yourself to make it fit on the DVD by changing the " Video data rate" to say 4000kbps and the sound to Dolby. Understand that higher compression affects quality.

Yep. I've tried everything I can think of. Since Nero does a great job of compressing on the fly (i.e. not using more than 1 software package), and since after removing Ulead from my system, to include all the tracks the de-installation left behind (e.g. about 150 registry entries), Nero also burns DVD+R DLs, and since Ulead does not work in creating DVD-Audio or DVD-Video audio only files, I'll leave it off my system and call it a very expensive object lesson.
