Use old menu templates
Hi,
Can you tell me if it is possible to import menu templates from Videostudio 11 to the latest Pro X4. I am trying to to keep all my holiday movies with the same template and can find the files in VS 11 but not sure if I can import and which file I would import it into.
Thanks

Re: Use old menu templates
Welcome to the forums,
Are you referring to DVD Menu templates or Movie Wizard templates? If it is the latter, then no they are not. VS X4 does not have a Movie Wizard. It has the Instant Projects, which is capable of importing Custom Instant Project Templates. Looking through the DVD menu templates, they appear to be the same in VS X4 as in VS 11.

Re: Use old menu templates
The menu is for the DVD and is one of the smartscene versions. In VS11 the file is 05vs_OneSO4_W.
I cannot find this menu anywhere in X4.
Thanks

Yep, you find one that is not. Let me do some research, as that menu is one included with PhotoImpact. I need to check some things to see if it would work in VS X4.

Re: Use old menu templates
I have managed to get that one working in X4 - it is a little bit complicated as a direct copy into the same folder in the X4 structure as in the 11 structure does not work - (in fact X4 crashed when I tried it first) - but try this.
The version 11 menu templates are in C:/Program Files/Ulead Systems/Ulead VideoStudio 11/Content/Menu Template/16x9/One Scene Button - there are two files that you need there - one is the 05vs_OneS04_W.ufo and the other is 05vs_OneS04_W_MS.ini - you will need to copy both of those files.
Those two files need to be copied into C:/Documents and Settings/YOURNAME/My Documents/Corel VideoStudio Pro/14.0/Favorites/16x9/Favorites
I have copied a number of other templates from older versions into X4 as well - but it only seems to work on templates which have that .ini file as well - some of the older templates were just the .ufo file and I do not see them working.
You need to close X4 completely and re-open it for the new templates to appear.
As I say - it works for me - I hope it works for you.

Re: Use old menu templates
Unfortunately (for you) I do not have a computer with Windows 7 on it so I'm afraid I cannot give you an exact answer - but I expect one of the others will be able to tell you.
But does Windows 7 not have a "My Documents" folder - is it that much different ??

Re: Use old menu templates
I think Win7 uses the same file structure as Vista, if so you would need to place it;
C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\Favorites\16x9\Favorites
C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\Favorites\16x9\Favorites

Re: Use old menu templates
Ron,
Thanks for the quick reply!
When I go into my system in Windows 7 I did not have the same structure. I do have;
C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0
So I went into - C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0
and added the - \Favorites\16x9\Favorites - and put the files in it. But got no joy, the program did not see them. I then went into the library manager and tried to point to it, but still no good.

Re: Use old menu templates
have you tried re-starting videostudio since you installed them - they then appear in the drop down as 'favorites' - they do not just appear in the normal panes - go to the top of the menu selection panel and there should be a drop down - see if 'favorites' is in it.

Re: Use old menu templates
If what Brian suggests does not work, you might have to modify one of the existing menus, add it to the Favorites from within VS. I found I did not have a Favorites folder until I done that. VS creates the folder in the above path after it has a menu added to it.
