How do I import a Video_TS folder on my hard drive into MF4?

Post by macwino »

I have a number of short videos on my hard drive that are contained in DVD Folders. I would like to import these videos into MF4 in order to make a compilation DVD. With MF3 I was able to import such videos using the Import DVD-Video option. When I use this option in MF4 - which says it is for importing DVD Folders "from a disc or hard drive" it just doesn't work.

I navigate on my hard drive to the Video_TS folder that I want to import and select it. I get an Import DVD window. As there is only 1 .vob file in the folder, I get a descending hierarchical menu displaying Label, Title 0, and Chapter 0. If I select Title or Chapter I can view the video. However, the buttons on the bottom of the window are grayed out, except for the Close button. In other words, the buttons for Import (which is what I want to do) and Stop Import are grayed out. What must I do to activate the Import button?

Thanks, Robert

I have the same incorrect response when I try to import from a folder.

However, there is a solution for you. .VOB files are just .mpg files by another name.

Rename the .VOB files in your VIDEO_TS directories to .mpg and you will be able to import them as video files.

John, thanks for the tip. It indeed is a workaround and one that I shall use.

But I can't help wondering how Ulead can sell a product with a documented feature that simply doesn't work?

Thanks again for the input.

Is the disc copyprotected or anything? Are you using the Full version, or a Trial?

To verify Robert's problem I produce VIDEO_TS files from a single imported .mpg file and then openned another project to import the DVD folder. IMPORT was greyed out.

Yet another bug?

Did you actually put a CHECK in the checkbox next to the Title or Chapter?

No I didn't. I owe Mr. Ulead an apology this time.

I went back and had another go and sure enough, the solution is to check the little box to the left of the component (Title, Chapter, etc) that you want to import).

Having now had a look in the manual, I think that they could give a little more detail about how to 'select the video clips to import'.

Thanks George
