Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
Sorry about not posting a recent status, I've been preoccupied with other more pressing matters...like work and life.
I finally received a reply from the Corel support ticket I created about this issue (# 01014703). Here's the reply and instructions and more importantly links which, by the way, resemble closely what Ken and others have suggested (note the paragraph after #4):
*************************************************************************
Dear Kevin,
Thank you very much for your e-mail.
Kindly update the following components to resolve the issue.
1. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
2. Install the latest Direct X (June 2010); you can find it from the link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... ceb6d8fa8d
Direct X 11 for Windows 7
http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/ab ... rectx.aspx
3. Update your Video Card drivers
Install the latest driver of your video card. You will find the latest driver from your video card manufacturer site. Check if you are running the latest video drivers for your video card. If you have an older version, download the latest video driver (a reboot may be required).
For NVIDIA users, get the latest driver here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
For AMD-ATI users, get the latest driver here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
For Intel users, get the latest driver here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm
4. Go to http://corel.com/patches to download the update for the program (if applicable).
There could also be a damaged or corrupted file in the project, Try saving the project as an MPEG file. If the same error message appears when you save the project, close the program and create a copy of your project file. Remove files from the project and try re-saving until you have identified the damaged file (Please note to also check the Audio files in your project). Open the original project file and delete the damaged file.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.
Kind regards,
Iny

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
Jeff, sheesh, give a guy a chance to catch his breath and execute the support instructions and all 4 workflows
. I just posted that a little over an hour ago.
In summary, unfortunatey even after following these steps which only contained one more item than Ken's instructions did, the lovely and expansive error "Unspecified Error 5:0:0" persists.
I tested this on both my development box and the no-frills box, both of which have been described in detail in previous posts and both are Win-7 Ultimate x64 with SP1. I am performing most tests on the no-frills box because it has no third-aprty software on it which means that it definitely does not have Nero or the like on it.
Here's the details....
Support steps executed on both boxes were:
1. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)
- First time executing this step.
2. Install the latest Direct X (June 2010); you can find it from the link below:
- Executed previously, but performed again in the order specified by Corel Support.
3. Update your Video Card (NVIDIA) drivers
- Executed previously, but performed again in the order specified by Corel Support.
4. Go to http://corel.com/patches to download the update for the program (if applicable).
- There are no updates for VS X4 Pro
5. Reboot machine.
VS workflows executed on both boxes were:
WorkFlow #1
1) New project
2) Edit -> add MPEG-2 video created from VS previously.
3) Share -> Create Video File -> DVD MPEG2 (720x480)
...a) .mpg file created in a few minutes.
4) Share -> Create disc -> DVD
...a) Delete project video
...b) Add MPEG-2 video created in step #1
...c) Check "Create to disc" OR "Create disc image".
WorkFlow #2
1) New project
2) Edit -> add MPEG-2 video created from VS previously.
3) Share -> Create Video File -> DVD MPEG2 (720x480)
...a) .mpg file created in a few minutes.
4) Share -> Create disc -> DVD
...a) Delete project video
...b) Add MPEG-2 video created in step #1
...c) Check "Create Menu".
......i) Ensure "Motion Menu" is checked.
......ii) Choose a "Background Music" track (not a checkbox as suggested earlier).
...d) Check "Create to disc" OR "Create disc image".
WorkFlow #3
1) New project
2) Share -> Create disc -> DVD
...a) Add MPEG-2 video created in previous workflows.
...b) Check "Create Menu".
......i) Ensure "Motion Menu" is checked.
......ii) Choose a "Background Music" track (not a checkbox as suggested earlier).
...d) Check "Create to disc" OR "Create disc image".
WorkFlow #4
1) New project
2) Share -> Create disc -> DVD
...a) Add MPEG-2 video created in previous workflows.
...b) Check "Create to disc" OR "Create disc image".
All workflows result in the lovely and expansive error "Unspecified Error 5:0:0".

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
From my very naive viewpoint, I find it strange that this problem has only surfaced with the introduction of VS X4! To me that seems as if it is a problem with X4 and calls for a patch from Corel to rectify it! If not a fault in X4 I wonder why the problem did not manifest itself in earlier versions of VS? Just a thought!

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
The problem with that idea, John, is that they are only going to issue a patch -- if one is needed -- if the problem can be replicated by quite a few other users. And so far, that has not happened...

Point taken Ken but I had just directed another user to this thread as he was having the same issue and cured it by uninstalling Nero!

Had exactly the same problem. In an attempt to narrow down potential conflicts, uninstalled all previous versions of VideoStudio (three in total). Seemed to have fixed it. Good luck!

It has been almost a month since this topic was updated. Has there been any news from Corel on a patch for the burn module in VideoStudio Pro X4?

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
I have the same issue, though when trying to burn a blu-ray. I at least used to be able to burn dvds without issue (haven't in a bit though).
win 7 x64 home premium
16GB Ram
Intel I7-2600
Radeon HD6450
Tried everything support has suggested, including trying to update things (though all were already updated except for a newer version of graphics card driver), tried updating VS x4 but it seems to have a problem doing so.
I'm at a loss, I am going to uninstall and reinstall to see if that does anything. If not, I wasted some money getting this, as the entire reason I bought it was to edit/burn hd home videos. Without that ability, I could have used other software that I already had to burn DVDs. Pity, as the GUI and taskflow were pretty intuitive and easy to use.

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
Hi
Updating Video Studio with the service packs will give an error if they are already installed.
The message is a little confusing, and a simple "already installed" would be more appropriate.
The latest X4 version fully updated is 14.1.0.126 at least that’s what I see. Upps -- No its not it should be 14.2.0.23
Now that X5 has been released (some time ago), Corel will not provide any further fixes for X4.
Afaik the problem of the Unspecified error 5:0:0 message also shows when creating a Disc Image, so that takes out the actual CD/DVD burner or disc. Not sure which version though?
If my memory serves me right there was an issue using the Background Sounds and Motion Menu.
Or rather not using Background Sounds.
A combination of these caused the 5:0:0 error.
Run a few tests to create a disc image or DVD Folder for the standard DVD to see if you still have problems, then try the HD Bluray option. Create BluRay Folder
Use the Sample files provided by the program

Thanks Brian
You are of course correct, just applied SP2 and now have the correct version.

MSUICEMAN -- have you tried making a Blu-Ray folder in the VS burn module, instead of burning an actual disc? That would not only avoid wasting expensive Blu-Ray discs, but at least show a little more clearly where the problem lies. For example, there could conceivably be some conflict between your burner and the brand of discs you are using.
And if you successfully burn such a folder -- which is the exact BDMV folder you would have on a final disc -- you can then burn it to an actual disc using a program like the freeware ImgBurn or something like a recent Nero or Roxio suite.
I think it was only related to the Motion Menu. Unticking the box beside it seemed to cure the problem for those that were having it.If my memory serves me right there was an issue using the Background Sounds and Motion Menu.

Re: VideoStudio X4 Pro - Error during burn
Well, I successfully made blu-ray folders and burned them to disc via imgburn. I tried a bunch of other things, none of them worked. Although I don't really like that I now have another "step", at least its something. Don't know why, but I didn't have an issue when I was burning DVDs not too long ago (though I haven't tried it again since, so if something changed, I may have this issue with that too now).
Looks like I am on the latest/greatest version of x4, by looking up my version number, so that shouldn't be it. Strange that it will make supposedly folders identical to what it would make then burn, but error out mid-burn with the unspecified error.
