Upgrade Eligibility

Post by peter_wade »

I used to have Paint Shop Pro XI on my old computer. I still have a note of the activation code but I have lost the installer. Does this count as owning a licenced copy of XI and made me eligible for the upgrade price to X3?

if you still have X1 installed on your computer then you are eligible for the upgrade - you will not need the previous installer or activation code as X3 will come with a new code.

Actually all you really need to qualify for the upgrade is having a registered copy of the software proving you have a valid license of a previous version. The upgrade is the full software and it doesn't require the previous version to be installed on your computer as it installs in its own location. Technically "upgrade" only refers to the pricing not anything different from the full version. So as long as you registered it to your Corel account you should be good to go.

If you want to double check then underneath the "Buy Now" button on the Corel website you'll see a link for determining upgrade eligibility.

To purchase the upgrade version of this product, you must own a previous licensed version of one of the following:

Corel® Paint Shop Pro® 9
Corel® Paint Shop Pro® X
Corel® Paint Shop Pro® Photo XI or higher (Standard or Ultimate)
Corel® PaintShop Photo® Express 2010
Corel® Digital Studio™ 2010

So you're good to go. :D

Have you downloaded and used the Trial version on X3 yet? If not I suggest you do that first to make sure you want it.

Thanks for the info, LeviFiction. I tried the demo of X3 some time ago, I liked it but wasn't sure if it would be worth upgrading if I had a working version of XI.

Since then I've tried installing a demo copy of XI I found online hoping I could turn it into the full version but I can't find any way of entering my activation code. The extras they are offering with X3 now make me more keen to upgrade. I'll see if I can run the demo, but since I used to have an old demo on this PC that expired I'm not confident.
