Hey all-
Trying to combine 3 projects into a single project and when I do the audio will start to hiccup. I started by outputting all 3 vids to mpeg2 NTSC DVD 4:3 and then creating a new summary project and joining them together (output = mpeg2\dvd). When I bring them into the project they play fine individually, but once I drop them on the timeline and join them up it will start to get some errors. Not bad errors, just small hiccups. Over the course of a 15 minute video there are about 10 hiccups. Any ideas?

Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?

Re: Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?
Welcome to the forums,
Are these hiccups just in the project, while trying to preview it? If so I would not get that concerned yet. VS has always been shaky while previewing in project mode. This should not show up in your final rendered video. Try rendering your project and see if the hiccups are still there. Also just what are these hiccups? Is it where VS is stuttering, jumpy?

Re: Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?
Thanks Ron.
The hiccups are in a final rendering. I went as far to burn it to DVD and and watch it on my DVD player - still there. Again, it only starts to show up once put them on a timeline and start to combine them into a summary project....just weird?
This morning I am going to try to pull together the 3 VSP projects(open one and add the other two - nesting) and see how that works.
I am still pretty new to VS X3, so I am thinking it's gotta be something I am doing.
BTW.... Nice forum!

Re: Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?
Could still be several things causing it.
What type of clips (video, photo) are you using in your projects prior to creating the DVD video files? If video what are the properties of them? If you say AVI I'm gonna come back and ask for the Codec, as AVI is a wrapper, that there are around 800 different CODECs that use that wrapper. Right-click on a clip in the timeline or library, select properties and post them, or a screenshot of them.
I guess more important, I still don't know what you mean by hiccup. Is this the video jumping, stuttering, or some audio glitch? Is it pixelation, jaggies?
If you're original source files are HD video, and perhaps using AVCHD, are you using transitions or do you have Smart Rendering enabled?

Re: Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?
Rob, it was stuttering the audio, no noticeable video problems. I did not know how else to explain it. Just very mild. In the sound if the singer was saying "the"...it would sound like "th-the". Does that make sense?
Good news is nesting the three projects seemed to work without any problems. The original videos were off of my flip ultra HD. However, the problem was mainly in the audio track of the slide presentation portion of the video (pictures with a soundtrack).
I will have to look into that "smart rendering". That sounds promising. I am sure I have a ton to learn, but so far it seems pretty cool.

Re: Combine Project (x3) and audio starts to hiccup?
Are the source files (h.264 MPEG-4), recorded at 60fps? If so VS has a problem with the true 50/60fps video clips. That may be where your hiccups are coming from.
