Looked through a few pages, but did not see any threads that talk about or mention the improvements and if it is worth spending the $ to upgrade X3 to X4.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Thanks in advance.

Possibly as far as a lot of people are concerned getting the burning module back inside VideoStudio was worth it - but as you will see from the comparison list there is much more besides.

I'd have to say that I have noticed improved performance over X3.
Also I no longer have to batch convert my HD .mov files from my Nikon Coolpix to another format to void a VS crash (This can be avoided by downgrading Quicktime when using VSX3).
The Best thing that was worth it for me was being able to move my preview window to my other monitor. This allows me to maximize all the video tracks so I can see what's in all of them without having to scroll.
I also love that the all media types are in the one window for the project at hand and I can hide the different types with a simple click.
Getting the ole Burning module back is also a blessing.
IMHO it was well worth the upgrade.
Now I can't wait to try some of the new stuff with animation.
There is one aspect of differences between X3 &X4 that leaves me reticent to make the upgrade, and which is not addressed in the product matrix: all of the differences in default values, settings and properties. One example is upper field first vs lower field first. Another example is a recent posting which seems to say I have to manually change a project setting just to be able to load and edit my old reliable DV AVI's (I could have this completely wrong, in which case it's a good example of a difference in something that causes worry, if if it's not really a problem for what I do). I've seen other such differences mentioned on the forum, and I would go compile a list of difference myself, but you all know how difficult it is to search the forum, and how near impossible it would be to search for, say, "all postings which mention differences between X3 and X4".
By any chance has anyone compiled a list of all these differences?
I guess we could try to compile a list, but by the time it was compiled, ready to be published, you would be asking about the differences between VS X5 and X4..
