Rendering Issues X3

Post by WestEndAngler »

I am having some serious issues with my Corel VideoStudio X3

I have recorded video via my GoPro 1080P HD camera. I then took those files and saved them to my external HD. Those files were cropped and cut apart then put into my project. The program will not render more than 37% before it freezes. I have a Quad core processor 3GB of memory I think I am okay there?

This has happened to me in the past and I would have to use an alternate program but the problem being now is that the basic program I was using before purchasing X3 was just Windows Movie Maker and it would not recognize Mpeg4.

So long story short. I am having issues rendering, program freezes & crashes, no error messages just "Not Responding"

I read while searching for other users with this issue about re-ordering the videos of transitions. I am just learning this whole video editing thing so be easy on me

Welcome to the forums, :)

Just a thought, have you tried moving the file(s) you're working on to a local hard drive? It may be the USB or Firewire is causing enough of a bottleneck for VS to freeze up waiting on data. While you do have a powerful enough machine to work with HD video, the slowest function of a machine dictates it's fastest speed at some operations.

One thing you haven't told us is what you are rendering your video to... An immediate problem I see is that your original video is 1080p. And if that is 50/60 full frames per second, then VS simply can't produce video using the .mpg format in full progressive mode except as 1280 x 720p. X4 can do it, but only by using Share > Create Video File > Custom, them using .avi as the base format, and selecting one the codecs on your computer e.g. XVid or DivX or Microsoft Video 1. But that may not suit your ouput requirements, and I am not sure that works with X3, though it may...

I will try moving all files associated with the project to my local hard drive folder before I start messing with anything else.

The GoPro camera itself was shooting in 1080P HD I had it on the highest setting which right now is: 1080p (1920x1080) @ 30FPS

I have contemplated upgrading but bought the full version a couple of days before the new 4 came out.

I'm actually having the same problem & files are local. It seems when I separate the audio form the video the program doesn't crash. However trying to play or convert causes crash. This is a problem with the HD Audio, whats weird is on Video Studio 11 this never happened.

Here is some info on the audio I go from Gspot:

0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
48000Hz 448 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1)

I hope someone can give advice, I'm trying to get support as they told me to call them directly but its been an hour with no answer...

Well I just got done moving all files to the local hard drive and still at 37% X3 freezes & makes me close the program... I am going to try re-ordering the clips I hate doing this but just apart of trouble shooting.

I am just tryint out ouput the file to YouTube or for playback on my computer. I can't even get past the creating the video file stage.

What do you have around the 37% mark in your project? It may be nothing more than a transition or filter that VS is choking on too. I've seen this happen, and the freezing or crashing at the same place is a good indicator.
