text dropped when printing
I use the graphics section of PSP X3 pro for architectural drawings. Recently when I tried to print a drawing from the *.pspimage file all but one of the text objects went missing. I finally converted the file to *.jpg and was able to print it with all its text. I haven't encountered this problem before and the file is rather small (310KB). Relying on the *.jpg file for printing is not a good option for me since in more complex drawings the *.jpg version is degraded.

Vectors and text not printing is a known bug with X3.
You don't have to turn it into a JPG though. Just do a quick "Merge All (Flatten)" to make it all raster and then print that way. No compression necessary. You can then undo the change to get all of your layers back. The other option would be to save as one of the lossless formats like TIFF or PNG if you use a different program for printing. You can also turn down the compression on JPG by hitting the "Options" button in the save as dialog if you need JPG to do the printing in another piece of software.
All possibilities to make sure you don't have to lose quality with JPG.

Re: text dropped when printing
Is there a patch for this bug or are we expected to just live with such inferior product output or to pay for new software to fix old problems?

Re: text dropped when printing
Patch X5 was released recently though I don't know if it addresses this problem or not. And they have never shared their intentions to continue to fix PSPX3 so we don't kno if it'll ever get fixed.
Of course X4 has its own problems which you then have to decide if they are worth getting the old ones fixed for. You can continue to wait and hope they update it, upgrade in spite of your disapproval of this horrid situation (Corel employees admit it's horrible even if the company itself doesn't seem to take a stance on the matter) or you can spend money on a different solution. I'm afraid it's all up in the air as to what is the better solution for you.
