Surely I should be able to create a menu from scratch using an image of my own and adding the elements that I want to.
So far you still can, IF you have PhotoImpact, the latest and last version is X3. That has been the only program made, allowing you to create DVD menus from scratch or really customize them.

Hi Rob

I created a menu template with 6 links, as your original image only showed 5

I have created another usung 8 which is the maximum, will e-mail you.

Have you found your extra contents disc, or re-installed X2 to see if you can fix the missing templates???????????

Thanks Ron

Does that mean that VSPro is actually not very Pro at all. I could do all this with Ulead DVD Workshop2 seven years ago and I bought VSProx2 expecting it to be quite an update on that programme and to be able to create my own menus as easy as ABC. It is driving me nuts just trying to get this one DVD ready for a friend who needs it by tomorrow and I have spent days trying to sort it.

If I cannot edit a menu the way that I want it, then there seems little point in the Pro aspect of the software and even less point in upgrading to V4 if that is not any better.

Thanks too to Trevor. I appreciate your time and assistance, chaps.

I only have the downloaded version of the prog so don't have any seperate discs. A reinstall has not made any difference at all even after un-installing the first effort.

I'll give your menu a go, but, (see my last post to Ron), why can't I edit a menu myself?

I don't want the FF, start, FB or Page 1/2 buttons, just the names of the chapters. It seems so simple to me but perhaps it's me being simple that can't get a grasp of what the programme can and can't actually do.

If I can't solve it tonight I'll have to hand it over as just a plain DVD with a picture printed on it.

Hi Rob

I thought you mentioned this in a previous post, are you able to “Right Click” the icons and select “Hide Object”

Have you been able to re place the background image???????????

Back to identifying the VS 12 version, what is the actual version.
Choose the ? mark top right and select “About”

When you view the library from the video editor what do you see in the video section?

Your Add and Remove Programs will also give some details.

I guess you will gather by now that your version doesn’t seem to be the same as the one I am using. If you wish to follow it up further can you provide screen shots of your workstations.

Hi Trevor

I have not received the new template thet you mention.
I have created another usung 8 which is the maximum, will e-mail you.
Also in reply to your earlier post, I cannot find any of the files that you mention ie ESDVSPRX2IEPCPF.exe (the program) VSX2ProContentPack_EN.exe VSX2ProBonusPack_6in1.exe

My exe file seems to be just "C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vstudio.exe"

To answer your latest reply, and I really do appreciate your assistance, my version is Corel VideoStudio 12.0.98.1 Pro and I have also installed the patch VSX2PROPATCH.exe.

I cannot get rid of the background but I can hide the unwanted elements, the red roses and nav buttons etc.

Here are screenshots of my main video editor

The page showing my chaptersw

The edit page

And the Customize Page

In the customize menu, I only have the one Nav button and in the Text Only Layout, one option in there too.

Here is a sshot of the programme files

Thanks again, Rob

Hi Rob

Looking at your images everything seems to be intact except the customised image.
In addition to the Menu out I see a Pan and Zoom and Motion Filter?????
When you click the Navigation Button box can you select Layout????

As these are missing I can only think there may be other features not installed???????

Viewing your images there are other things I could tidy up, but I will pass at the moment as I think it would only confuse the issue.

However when you go to Share Create Disc, the thumbnail shows black, you can change this, I hope, play the video till the preview screen shows a frame.
Now right click the thumbnail and select Change thumbnail.

Ron asked and you said that you updated Direct X, did you do this manually.?
Download the file DirectX Redist (June 2010)

Extract the contents to a folder created on your desktop
Run DXSETUP.exe from this folder.
So can you please run through the process again?

Thanks Trevor

I have now followed the link and downloaded the files from your skydrive.

Also downloaded the directx files again and installed.

Finally, I have got the menu looking something like how I want it (I don't have much time to make many more changes).

Image

However, the Highlight button is now a problem. You will see that numbers 1-4 and the > button are highlighted but not numbers 5-7. Instead for these three chapters, the text is highlighted. Also, when previewed, the highlight rings turn red and the text for 5-7 turns red when hovered over!

How can I get these to be all the same?

Also, when in the customize page, there is an 8th chapter showing underneath number 7. How do I get rid of this?

Regards, Rob
