UleadVideo Studio SE

Post by kevindelve »

I am using an EasyCap USB capture device to record from a nesting box, but when I try to record anyting the sound is abysmal, just a loud buzz! I am using a Packard Bell pc. The camera is plugged in using the a/v leads. On the Ulead program, it tells me the sound is via 3 USB audio interface. Could anyone advise me as to what I may be doing wrong. Many thanks.

Hi Kevin - welcome to the forum,

What you may be doing wrong is using Easycap - please read this post :-

Hi Kevin

When you connect the camera direct to the TV (no Easycap) what is the sound like.

My nest cameras audio picks up everything in the garden.

Is the sound noticeably worse via the Easycap Device?
How’s the video? and are you able to capture ok?

If its just the audio, try connecting the cameras audio direct to the PC’s Line-In

Capture Settings:-

Select the Options Cogwheel—Video and Audio Capture Properties
Source Tab………
Input Source-Composite
TV System Pal or Ntsc, I assume Pal
Audio-USB Audio Device

Capture Tab…….
Choose DVD
Advanced
Template to DVD Pal / Ntsc 720 x 576…
Aspect ratio 4:3
Bitrate Constant 5000

Deinterlace output if using video on internet

They should work reasonably well…..

Have you got any eggs?

Hello Trevor.
Will try to put the audio through the line in and see what that does.
All other settings match to yours.
We have 7 eggs that i can see.
Many thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Hope the Line-In connection works ok, please let us know the outcome.

We have quite a few complaints on the forum regarding the Easycap device, I have just created a new guide, hopefully this will help some users.

As I said the sound is the same for me whether I connect direct to the pc or through Ezcap, so I have no problems with the device creating background noise.

However I also have an Easycap device that just does not work.

View my Quick Guide from the link below, there is a support video on YouTube

Bird Box

With the recent warm spell I’m not sure if these birds are a little early this year.
Ours has nicely finished building the nest and has sat overnight for the last few days, no sign of eggs but I suspect they are tucked away in the bottom.

Hello again Trevor.
I have tried the line in approach, but no luck, just a nasty scratchy noise.
I think I will have to ditch the easycap and get an ezcap.
regards
Kevin.

Hi Kevin

If you have by-passed the EasyCap by connecting the camera audio directly to the pc then you cannot really blame it for the bad audio.
Having said that your device may not be perfect, but does it work?

I did ask if the audio was ok if you connected the camera to your TV without using the Easycap. Is there a difference?

To be honest my audio is poor, the camera picks up all background noise, road noise, aircraft etc, the mic’ is too good.
The box seems to act like satellite dish collecting all sound, but its an empty box with no acoustics at all, the echo/reverberation is terrible.

I haven’t noticed any difference to the audio when I use Ezcap.
But I will run a few tests later tonight, if the wife will allow.

For next year I think I may make another nest box, acoustically friendly.
