WinDVD Pro 2010 Not Responding
Fresh install of Win 7 Home Premium x64. Got everything up and running. Installed the latest version of WinDVD. Popped a Blu-Ray in and nothing. The program stops responding as soon as the disc is popped in. I've tried different movies and disc images as well.

We need more information about your hardware. Are you certain you have a Blu-ray optical drive? Have you updated the optical drive firmware? Have you selected the correct optical drive region code? Is your optical drive recognized in Windows?
Check the Device Manager to confirm that the optical drive is working properly. Update the device driver if there is an available update. If Windows isn't recognizing the device, you may need to delete upper and lower filters:

Please post back in this thread with the results of your efforts.

This is my drive. http://www.asus.com/Optical_Storage/Int ... /BC06B1ST/
There are no firmware updates for it.
The region code is correct.
The drive is recognized in Windows.
I just discovered that WinDVD is not playing DVDs either. Trying to play one results in blank video with choppy and distorted audio. WMP plays the DVDs. Everything worked a couple weeks ago.

If everything was working fine a couple of weeks ago, I suspect a corrupted WinDVD driver. The solution is a thorough uninstall and clean reinstallation.
I suggest using the free Revo Uninstaller (advanced mode):
http://www.revouninstaller.com/
Just to be safe, after you have run Revo Uninstaller in advanced mode, perform a Registry cleaning with the free CCleaner:
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Now reboot and reinstall WinDVD. Check within the application for any updates, and try to play a DVD or Blu-ray.

Hey
Seems similar to my issue, do you have an ATI graphics card? If so disable the ATI or AMD HD Audio Device in the device manager.
Then try launching WinDVD.
