send DMP file to Corel

Post by Peem »

I often feel quite stupid when dealing with Corel. I know I am leaving myself wide open when I say that and, probably someone’s reply will confirm that I am.

A week or so ago VSX4 suddenly hiccuped and flashed up a message ‘send DMP file xxxxxxxxxxxxx to Corel’ and the program then refused to function until reopened. But I could find no obvious way through the support web site to attach a file to an e-mail, something which used to be possible for you or so ago. I finished up ringing the only Australian phone number on it could find on Corel’s web site and the lady who answered offered to forward my e-mail with DMP file attached to support. So far I have not yet received a reply.

So maybe someone here can tell me –
1. Why did the program want me to send a DMP file? Is it only to help Corel write better programs or am I likely to receive advice on the problem?
2. Can anyone provide a link to a method for sending a DMP file to Corel?
3. How simple would it be for Corel to put a link to allow program users a direct route for this from the CorelGuide that appears on clicking the down arrow surrounded by dots?

Thanks, Peter

Message for Corel support. Case no 01013855

After a second e-mail directed through a helpful salesperson at Corel I received a reply from Allan at Corel support which suggested a whole heap of sites to visit and check for updates including Microsoft Visual C++ and various other Microsoft sites, and updates for my video card. After completing all this, playing the project again did not produce a DMP file, but it also did not resolve the problems I had playing AVI HD in project mode.

However, I wanted to advise Allan of what I had done and his advice for this was to click on the relevant case number on my page at Corel support, but there were no case numbers listed there and so no means of making contact.

So if anyone from Corel reads this, maybe they could advise Allan that I did try to thank him but again was thwarted by the system.

Regards, Peter

Well, while we might sympathise with your desire to contact Corel via this forum, apart from the sudden increase in ad hoc appearances by a variety of people with Corel in their profiles and usernames, I am still not sure that this is the place to try to contact them. This is a user-to-user board, and apart from the above-mentioned people. Corel appears to take little or not notice of what is posted here. I believe the people from Corel who have recently appeared, moreover, are at best volunteers, like us users who have been manning ("staffing") the Board voluntarily for years...

If I remember correctly when you login to Corel you can open an online ticket with support which allows you to attach files. You are then given a case number.
You can also go back to the case number at anytime and update it with additional information or reply to the Corel support questions.
As Black Lab stated you must first be logged into your Corel account to do this.

Cheers

Thanks all,
I was logged in. Allan had provide link to where my case number should have been but there were no numbers in the table, so no way to progress further. I feel I have done all I can.
