See http://sn.im/orgcache. This is a Corel Knowledgebase article about deleting the Organizer database. I normally try to avoid posting shortened URLs, but at the moment the knowledgebase is being upgraded and the links are absolutely huge.
You will see instructions there for deleting both the PSPP XI and X2 databases. The X3 database is the same as the X2 one. You should delete both your old XI one, which is probably damaged, and the X3 one. When you install X3, it uses any older XI database it finds as the starting point for creating its own and will inherit the corruption of the original.
After you delete those databases, you should find that PSP starts OK, and will make a new Organizer cache. You'll most likely find that XI works again. If you haven't already done it, update XI to version 11.20, which will help prevent the problem from reoccurring. (You'll find the XI patch at http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 7273621383)

Re: PSP x3 (trial) crashing at Updating Cache Settings
nsrush83 Corel has come out with 4 patches. I would install all 4 in order. Patch 2 should include patch 1 though.

You may also try starting PSP X3, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, navigate to the Processes tab, find MediaCataloger and end the process. I've gone so far as to find the program and rename it so that PSP won't start with it running.
