Save location and lagg problem

Post by noni »

Windows Vista Home edition Service Pack 2
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.20ghz
4gb ram
320gb hard drive
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
Motherboard:Acer JV50 Rev
32bit
Portable hard drive:500gb seagate

im using ulead video studio 10 with easycap

The problem is that i cannon change the destination folder from my cpu hard drive to my portable hard drive
i bought studio 10 hoping it would fix the problems with ulead videostudio SE and use it as an alternnative. i get the message :

Cannot write to the specified disk, The hard disk may be low in free space, write protected or the file or path name is too long.
i get this by selecting change destination folder, my computer , expantion drive.

Also if this cannot be fixed, i still have ulead videostudio SE that works until you press capture. When you press capture it just laggs and says 'this program has encountered a problem and will be shut down' it use to work fine until i got the message from windows:22 important security updates. After i update and restart i get this problem.

Hope you have an anwser for at least 1 problem.

Hi

Welcome to the forums

Yes we can answer your query, unfortunately you may not like the answer.

There have been some fake products sold over the internet.
So much so that the original manufacturer has changed the product name to Ezcap.

There is a post regarding Easycap at the top of this forum.

The official ezcap site is here and does explain about the fake products.

Having said all that, are you able to capture without using the portable drive?

Also, VS10 was not designed for Vista. Although you may get it to work, it may not work correctly.

Hi noni

Good to know you have managed to get the program working.

Easycap seems to be designed around Mpeg2 type video.
Using the DVD format option when capturing will create a compliant video file suitable for burning a DVD.

Squiggly lines may be an indication of the wrong field order, I think you should be using Upper Field, VS 10 may scan to check field order when the device is first connected?????

I'm not sure if the SE version is capable of this, but in the Create Video File menu, select Custom. Then make sure the Save as type is set to MPEG files (*.mpg; *.m2t), and press the Options button. In the Video Save Options dialog, first go to the Compression tab, and change the Media type to MPEG-2. Then go to the General tab and change the Frame size, to which one you need. VS 10+ has 1280 x 480, 1440 x 1080, and 1920 x 1080 listed in the drop-down menu. Finally go back to the Compression tab, and set your bitrate.

Not that I'm aware of. That's a rather strange frame size.

Hi

You are using EasyCap device, this connects to a composite source using the three cables.
This source is most likely a VHS player, (you don’t give any details) an analogue source, It will most likely use a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Using the device with VS 10 select the Capture Format as DVD
As it is analogue set the capture Bit Rate to 5000kbps and aspect to 4:3 (if you do not know how...Ask)

This will create a video file using correct video properties, using the correct frame sizes and rates for your video. It should be suitable for using in movie maker.

What are you trying to create a DVD or video for the internet?????????
Movie Maker does not output to DVD-Mpeg2 only WMV or DV-Avi
