Hi
welcome to the forums
Please download and install this program :-
http://windv.mourek.cz/
Try capturing using WinDV. (I think it is supported by Windows 7)???
If the quality is poor then the problem may be your firewire.

Re: PROBLEM CAPTURE VIDEOSTUDIO PROX3
I have found this can be due to the order which you use to connect the camcorder. Try shutting down both Video Studio and WinDV and disconnect the camcorder. Now connect the camcorder, turn the camera On. Then open WinDV without opening Video Studio. Now see if the program recognises the camera. If not try the reverse. Start again with eveything off and camera disconnected. Now Open WinDV then connect the camera, then switch on the camera. See if either of these work. If not then try a different firewire cable!

note that firs of all when I connect camera compare a screen asking which program I want to use - listing different choise
1) if I answer "windows picture viever" everithing go on well, capture option work and the file it is captured from the camera but quality it is no good
2) I I answer videostudio the program do not see camera and crash
3) I will tray again later if in the screen appare also WinDV but I think that this program it is not dispayede

Re: PROBLEM CAPTURE VIDEOSTUDIO PROX3
FWIW, I never, ever, use that windows pop-up prompt asking what I want to do, when it detects the firewire connection. The main reason being, the prompt will show for example VideoStudo, but not which version, and I have several installed. I simply close it, then I launch whatever program I want to use, which in this example, would be WinDV. I've had to close and re-launch WinDV before it would see my camcorder. I generally will have my camcorder on, in the playback mode, before launching my capture program.

FWIW, regarding WinDV:
A.Yes, it runs on Win7
B. The order I use is:
1. Turn on computer, boot OS.
2. Connect camera
3. Power on camera (don't use any Windows auto-start options, as noted above)
4. Start WinDV
5. Set WinDV configuration as desired; set capture file name as desired
6. Press Capture button in WinDV
7. Press Play button on camera

Re: PROBLEM CAPTURE VIDEOSTUDIO PROX3
Hi
Glad you managed to capture using Win DV.
Many of us on the forum use this program with success.
The program allows you to choose a name for your captured files, which I find useful, something that Video Studio does not do.
Capturing using Win DV produces exactly the same files as Video Studio.
DV (Digital Video) is transferred to the pc without re-coding, what you have on the camera is what you get DV-Avi.
Video Studio crashing
When you un-installed Video Studio did you follow these instructions:-
Quick Time
Installing an earlier version has cured some problems for some users.

Re: PROBLEM CAPTURE VIDEOSTUDIO PROX3
Hi
First uninstall QuickTime and re-install an earlier version.
If this cures the problem then no need to re-install Video Studio.
If I need to re-install Video Studio I always do the full uninstall, Aka a “Clean Install”
When we uninstall video studio not all files are removed from the pc, removing these manually is the cleanup process.
The CDS 2010 Clean Up utility does most of the work.
