Docking Problem Following Crash

Post by brighttyger »

In the last week PaintShop Pro X3 has crashed twice while I was doing my usual work, once during editing, once during an image download from Wiki. When I restarted it, all the boxes were floating. It was sucessfully reinstalled once, but crashed again and did the same thing of floating around in pieces. I did some research, but it has not helped. The docking option is not lit so is not clickable. I tried the alternate double clicking the bar and the pieces will snap into place, though often not where I want them. However, as soon as I click Full Editor, it all flies apart. The only features that are active at all are File and View. Tonight, after more research, we installed a patch that would supposed solve the problem, but did nothing. I am hoping that there is something that I can do without having to spend forever uninstalling and reinstalling, with no guarantee the same thing won't happen again, with or without the patch. If there is no easy fix, I am wondering if I should just return to an earlier version of PaintShop, which never had any problems, or upgrade and hope that the bugs have been fixed in the latest version. Please help if you can.

Close out of PSP. Shift + Double Click on the PSP icon on the desktop. It should ask you if you want to reset the workspace back to the default. Hit Yes and see if that helps.

If you can't get the dialog asking you to reset then in the File menu go to Preferences->Reset PReferences and select "Reset Workspace" and hit OK. Let us know if that fixes your problem.

Thank you so much. The second suggestion worked. It's difficult to know the exact right word or phrase to hunt for when you have a problem. It's great to have a simple solution after so much frustration.
