I have my system going already. No need to uninstall X4. Uninstall Quicktime, and install 7.5.5 is all that's needed. I gave the link to 7.5.5 in an earlier post.... I was able to get .mov files for awhile when I installed X4 and at some point I agreed to the nag screen from Quicktime about an update and that's when my lack of .mov files apparently started. But then we are all guessing what's going on, aren't we?
and what version of QuickTime is now installed.
Have you installed 7.5.5
Simply re-installing Video Studio will not re-install QT to the earlier version.
Uninstall X4
Uninstall Quick Time
Install X4
QT 7.5.5 will be installed whilst installing X4

Re: VideoStuidio X4 and Quicktime (.mov)
Latest update...
I uninstalled both X4 and Quicktime AGAIN. This time though I rebooted and cleaned the registry after each uninstall. Then I rebooted and cleaned the registry again (makes the 5th time). Previously I reinstalled both before checking anything. This time I checked X4 after installing. And guess what? I have the .MOV choice!!!!
I am not going to install Quicktime since the .MOV is showing. Hallelujah! Now if I just knew how I did it. I know that Quicktime was installed when I installed X4 the first time.
If anyone is interested I use Uniblue Registry Booster for cleaning the registry although I did notice I still had entries for both X3 and X4 after uninstalling and cleaning.
Hopefully this will work for others as well.

Yes, I just checked my installed program list and you are right. 7.55.90.70 was installed. So I think the solution is to not have any version of Quicktime on the machine when installing X4.trevor andrew wrote:Hi

Re: VideoStuidio X4 and Quicktime (.mov)
Just discovered something new on this. I was using iTunes for some web work I was doing for my church. It no longer works because I have the older version of Quicktime so that's another thing to watch if you use X4. I guess I won't use iTunes on this machine. I have a netbook for that. Wheeee!

Re: VideoStuidio X4 and Quicktime (.mov)
I had the same issue on Win7x64Pro. Even SP1 did not help.
So, with the suggestion from this thread, I had to uninstall X4, uninstall QuickTime, reboot, clean the registry (CCleaner), then reinstall X4, SP1, extras, etc.
After that I got the MOV import functionality.
btw, I constantly get the failure message (that can be ignored, probably)
AVControlSDK
Error extracting support files:
Catastrophic failure
