I am having problems with Paint Shop pro photo x2 ultimate. After using the software on the same computer for three years, it has suddenly crashed. I contacted support and got the reply to uninstall and reinstall.
Before I do that, I need to know if that will remove my many years of saved brushes, tubes, shapes etc? You can quess that after many years of using the program, I have saved many tubes that I don't want to lose.
I can go through "my computer" and access the PSP files, but I don't know how to save the tubes, brushes and other items. I don't know where PSP stores these items. I would like to save them to disc before I remove the software to reinstall it.
Help please. and Thanks in advance.

Re: How to access tubes that I have saved
I don't think PSPX2 deletes your information if you uninstall and reinstall. But I could be wrong, and why take chances? Also if you're worried of losing "years" worth of tubes and brushes then you've never properly backed up your stuff and you should do that anyway because you never know when even your harddrive will crash and you lose all of those anyway.
If you've made them yourself they tend to be saved in your documents folder in a special folder called "My PSP Files"
You can double check the location by going to the file menu and selecting Preferences->File Locations
In this dialog you can see, set, and remove all directories that PSP looks in for the various things (tubes, patterns, brushes, etc.) this includes the official installe (and extra) content Corel gives you with PSP as well as the registration incentive download. So you can backup both locations just use this dialog to find out where PSP finds all of the files.
From there backing up is easy, just make a copy of the necessary folders onto some other media. CD, DVD, jumpdrive, file hosting service whatever you use to backup your data.

Re: How to access tubes that I have saved
You are absolutely right. I have never done a backup. You would think I would have learned when I had a computer crash and lost all the pictures of my first grandchild's first Christmas. I did find the folder where the tubes and brushes that I added are stored. I will be transferring them to a disc. Thanks so much for your help.
I am just sick that my program has crashed. I used to use Elements, it crashed in the same way, and I could never get it to run again. Unistalling and reinstalling did not work. I even bought an updated version and it would not open either. That is why I switched to Paint shop pro. I have run it since 2008. It did seem to be getting a little unstable lately but not enough that I was worried. I am afraid I will never get Paint Shop Pro to run on my computer again, and I truly loved the program.
Thanks
