Can I make a video overlay in a quicktime movie?
Is it possible to make a video overlay as a quicktime movie?

Yes you can. Go to Create Video File, select Quicktime Movie file as the Save as type. Now press the Options button, go to the Compression tab, and for the Data type, select 32 bit.

No, I don't think so. I ran a test yesterday, creating a 32 bit MOV file, which I dropped into an overlay track in VS X4. VS did not automatically recognize the alpha channel, if it was in fact black. I had to use Chroma-key. I haven't tried dropping this clip into another NLE to see if the alpha channel is recognize and used.
