Post by metcat »

Hi ALL
I am trying to edit .mts (from panasonic HD video a camcorder) files as a project.
Its very jerky and the sound does not synchronise the the video.
I am using X4 pro on a Dell 420 XPS windows 7 64 bit with 6GB of ram.
I would be grateful for any help.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

How did you get the video from the camcorder to the computer? Did you use the software that came with the camera? Normally, that would import the video in the .m2ts format, though the original video in the camera would be .mts. Video Studio can certainly handle both. However, I would note that your computer has only the very minimum specifications for AVCHD video which is the most demanding of all video formats at the moment. I also note that you say you are using Windows 7 32 bit, yet have 6 GB of RAM. I suppose you realise that half of that cannot be used by 32 bit Windows?

What you should be using is SmartProxy, which makes a copy of your incoming AVCHD in a standard definition format which is much easier to edit. Making the copy takes time, so be patient. You do your edits, then they are applied to your original AVCHD.

Hi Ken
Thanks for your comments

I copied the .mts files from SD card to my hard drive and then imported to VS4 (not in the capture section)

I clearly need to start from scratch again as you suggested .

I am using windows 7 64 bit and 6gb Ram and gforce card with 512mb
Do you think another 2 gb of ram would help or a better graphics card ?

Thanks Again
Mike

Hi there,

For better performance of your system to support MTS is first your Video Card and your Memory as well. You really do not need lots of RAM when running Windows 7 32 bit because of its limitations. You can try to upgrade your Video Card. That would really help. However, with videos and audio settings, it would be best to look for your CODECS.

I would advise for you to update all of them. Here are the list of Codecs you can try installing.

If you are using Windows 7, you can download the updates from these following links:
Real Player: http://www.real.com
QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/downloads
DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 93d210f616

ffdshow tryouts:

Xvid-1.2.2:
http://www.koepi.info/Xvid-1.2.2-07062009.exe

Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime Library: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

I hope these helps. :)
