When i select the crop tool there are 4 "handles" on each size, apparently I can only drag resize by "holding" on of the handles - I would like to be able to drag anywhere on the box not just the handles - is that possible somehow?
When i select the crop tool, I usually zoom into view how the content lines up with the edges of the box - here it would be extremely useful simply to be able to grab a side of the box and move it - but apparently I can't. I have to zoom all the way out again to see the handle and then drag a bit and zoom back in etc - this makes it very cumbersome.
I was thinking perhaps there was a button qualifier one could keep pressed to be able to drag even if the mouse pointer isn't over a handle?

Re: Help:Cropping anywhere on the frame?
Nope. Oddly enough that feature (dragging the sides of the box) was removed. It used to work that way, now it doesn't. I have no idea why they changed it this way.
But a feature request has been made, I hope they do bring it back.
So the drag feature is not available but not all hope is lost. You can still nudge a particular edge. Select one of the corner nodes and then zoom in on the image. When you select the crop tool it should remember everything (it's size, position, and currently selected node) and you can nudge the line up or the side by using the arrow keys. Of course these will only nudge it one pixel at a time. Holding Ctrl will move in larger increments, shift will move even larger, and Ctrl + Shift will move even larger still.
The corner nodes will allow you to move two sides without having to change the selected node. Just hit the appropriate key. Only down-side to this, however, is I don't think there's a way to select the next node using the keyboard. You might have to do that with your mouse and being zoomed in that gets a bit difficult to constantly move around. But it's the best I've got.
But yes I do hope they bring back the dragging functionality.

Btw, that was a useful tip. ThanksLeviFiction wrote:

Re: Help:Cropping anywhere on the frame?
Unfortunately being able to drag anywhere on the crop outline was removed in PSPP X2... at the same time that the ability to rotate the crop outline was added.
One workaround is to go to open a second window for the image (press Shift + W), zoom and position the image in one window so that you can see the important part of the crop outline, and in the second so that you can see the crop outline control point. Drag the control point in the second window while watching the outline in the first.
