Videostudio Pro X4 - Libraries

Post by Karin »

Hi there

after installing Videostudio Pro X4 from the DVD, the library files are not there. No music samples, nor the pictures, nor the video samples. After adding them manually from the samples folder, they are gone when I start the programm next time. Adding a folder is possible but all is gone after the next start.
My operating system is xp pro.

Hi Karin

and welcome to the forums……….

Can you confirm that the three icons at the top of the library are highlighted?
These turn on and off the various library pages.
There is one for Audio, one for Video and the other for images

Did your purchase come with another disc marked as “content”, if yes install the contents disc.

Thanks, Trevor

and yes they are highlighted and the samples folder is in "E:\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Samples". All files are there. The bigger problem is, that my own files are not saved in the library. For example, I add a folder and rename it to "project1", put all my content in it and after the next start of VS it is not there.

Hi Karin

Why E:\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Samples".

Normally you install Video Studio to your C drive, is this what you have done?
Or have you installed to the E drive?

My library Samples are located here:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Samples\Video\P01.UVP

Does anyone know how this problem was resolved? I am having the same problem, but VSX4 is installed on my C: Drive.

Whenever I reopen VSX4 none of the folders I created aren't there in the Library Navigation Panel.

Hi danno77

I am not sure exactly sure what your problem is, are you referring to the default library content or the library pages created by you using the add function. The add function creates empty library folders allowing you to manage your file.

Video Studio X4 changed the way it displayed the libraries compared to the earlier versions, this caused a problem in transferring the older libraries into X4.

To the top of the library are 4 icons indicating, import media files, show/hide video, show/hide photo, show/ hide audio files. Float your mouse for details.
---------------------------

When we first install video studio the library is created with a minimum content, the same goes for other templates.
To complete the installation you should run the Contents.exe file, the file being provided with your purchase, (I am referring to the Download purchase, the disc may fully install)

The Contents.exe installs further samples to the library, completes installation of templates, smart sound, DVD menus etc.

Below shows the library after installing the “contents file”. How does this image compare to your library.

I have absolutely nothing in my "Sample Folder." I have none of the stuff (like the picture you added) in that area and if I add photos, audio, or video files to that area the next time I open VSX4 the files are gone.

If I create a new Folder and add media to the folder once I close VSX4 and reopen it the Folder and files are not there. I have to create the Folder again and re-add the media files.

I hope that helps explain my problem (if it is a problem????)

Thank you for responding.

@Karin, @danno77

To eliminate the part that this caused by a damaged software, I suggest that you perform a clean reinstallation of VS X4. You will need to first manually uninstall the program, you can follow the steps hereto do that.

Then re-download or install the program using the DVD installer.

Well, I gave it a go both ways described in the document you referred me too, and I'm still having the same problem.

Thank you for trying.

Hi Danno

Re-Installing the program should have cured the problem, it should also have re-placed this folder:-

C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US

Just to make sure, re-name the folder “en-US” to “en-US copy”

Starting Video Studio will create a new en-US folder.

Does this change anything……….

Ps if you cannot find the folder you have to change the folder options-view to show hidden files and folders.....

No, it did not correct the issue, but yes, it did create the “en-US” folder as you mentioned.

Thank you trevor andrew for your input.

Hi Danno

It does sound a very strange problem.
To the top of the library are 4 small icons, one for Video, another for Photos and then Music

Click on these in turn effectively hiding / viewing the libraries.

--------------------------------

Go to Settings Library Manager – Reset Library
Does that change things?

--------------------------------
Direct X
Go to:-
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=8109
Download the file (directx_Jun2010_redist.exe)
Run to extract the contents, create a new folder to hold the files
Run DXSETUP.exe to install the files

Yes, I am familiar with the buttons or icons that you mentioned, but that's not it - all three are (gold or yellow) highlighted.

I did try and reset the library as you mentioned, but that did not change anything. I do appreciate you trying.

Thank you.

Hi
Direct X
Did you manually update this from the link in the earlier post.?

The have been some problems with templates not being saved, ok when created but disappear after re-booting VS.
This was a Read Only problem, the templates folder being tagged as read only. No idea why?
First as a test go to Settings-Make Movie Templates Manager, create a few templates, don’t worry to much about the settings, just give them a name.
When you Share Create Video File the templates will show adjacent to the Custom option.
Now re-boot Video Studio, are the templates still available.

----------------------------------------
The library folders are structured differently to earlier versions and certainly don’t allow you tinkering with them, doing so may give an error, VS may not even run.
However the library files are called :-
VS_Video.dat
VS_Title.dat etc

X4 also uses files named something like VS_MediaLib_Video.dat
I must admit I do not know the exact system library files.

You have already located the en-US folder, this can be refreshed, the new files being copied somewhere from C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4\Ulead.dat

My thought is that the files / folders are tagged as Read Only.
