Version 8 to 9 Edit Problem

Post by sbjenks »

Below is a message sent to Ulead support regarding a problem with the 9.0 version upgrade. Waiting for their reply.

Upgraded to 9.0. Downloaded most recent patch. In 8.0, I had started editing a project. I had downloaded all the clips and was working through the initial editing functions - clipping scene lengths. After the upgrade, I brought the 8.0 project up in the 9.0 version. In Edit mode, I selected the first video clip, selected 'Project' and clicked the 'Play' button. The video briefly shows the first video clip then jumps half way into the project and plays to the end of the project. The scenes on the edit bar are all correct, in the same sequence as they were in 8.0 - but the 9.0 version wants to jump ahead. I have no problem running the project in 8.0, in sequence, and in its entirety. I'm going to finish the project in 8.0, but was curious why this is happening.

UPDATE MAY 31st:

Received the following reply from support. Mystery solved. I responded that in the future Ulead might want to more clearly emphasize issues like this in their pre-upgrade literature. Perhaps it was there and I just missed it. In any case, it's important for the user base to understand
major changes like this in advance. SBJENKS

Hope this helps others.

ULEAD REPLY 05/31/2005:

Dear Stephen,

Since VideoStudio 9 has different software architecture and layout compare with VideoStudio 8.

Some project files cannot be imported properly. Basically if you were unable to relink all components correctly it won’t load properly.

We do not have immediate solution to this but to create a new project in VS9 or as you have said continue working with VS8.
