Hello,
I've tried installing the purchased downloaded version of the software to two different Windows 7 64 machines and installation just stops on the first screen. "Next" never becomes active. Corel told me to delete my temp files and I've done that, to no avail. I had the same thing happen with the trial version and just figured that they would have fixed the for sale version.
Is there a cleaning or prep patch for this one?
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry, I don't have a solution. (And I'm running Win7-32.)
If nobody here or at Corel can get you "online", Corel does have a 30-Day money-back guarantee.

If you start a new user account, log-out of your current account, and log-in to the new one. Then try installing VS. If that works, then log-out of the new account and log back into the old one. VS should work there as well.

Ken,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I wish I could say that it worked, but the software does the exact same thing. This was a brand new account with a brand new download, would think that there's nothing there to interfere. Wonder if there's anything else I could try?
Kind Regards,
Dave

Re: X4 Ultimate Installation Stops
This is bizarre where several people are having extreme difficulty just installing. First to satisfy my curiosity, your post topic heading X4 Ultimate... , as far as I know there is no Ultimate version of X4, just the single version, the proper name being VideoStudio Pro X4. So where does the Ultimate come from?
Now more importantly, you first tried installing the TBYB (trial), and you could not get it to install. What did you do before trying to install your purchased version? Try following Abiel's instructions found In This Post. Also have your recently updated your DirectX? This is not part of the normal windows update routine, it must be done manually. I think the most current is dated June 2010. If not there is a link to MicroSoft's website in This Topic. It is a 3 part procedure, one being to extract the file. You will want to create a folder for this, as it will extract around 200 datacab files. Once extracted locate and run the DXSETUP.exe.
Help me with trying to figure out some things here. Your purchased download (ESD) did it come as a single file, or more than one file to download? In what form, zip, or exe? The install files I have, DVD and also an ESD, I looked at some of them, and noticed that the DirectX, Corel provides with the program is the Nov 2007. Which is not really bad in and of itself, however it does not include the latest, which may be causing some problems with Win7 machines.
What zip program(s) do you have? Some allow for extracting/decompressing "exe" files. If your purchased file is an "exe" you could try extracting it. Then look for and run the Setup.exe file. There are also *.msi files, which are MicroSoft Installer files, and should be a Setup.msi. You could try running it by right-clicking on it and selecting Install. It may or may not let you. I have tried this before, and it threw a message stating the program must be installed from the Setup file.
Make sure that your Windows account being used is an Administrator's, you can also right-click on the install file and select Run as Administrator. Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus, and UAC (User Account Control). Just remember to enable them once you're finished.
