PSP X3 Activation Hardship
From searching I can see that other people have experienced the same problem and I have tried some of the solutions but they haven't helped.
I have been a PSP user for a long long time. Version 7 I think. Certainly my Corel history shows 10 X1 X2 and X3. I have always been happy and have made recommendations to others who have also ended up happy. But I am not happy today.
I bought the upgrade to PSP X3 in January 2010 as a download and it has been working ever since. However, about two weeks ago my PC died. Oh well it was time for an upgrade anyway so I bought a nice sandybridge setup with a new SSD. Initially I simply connected my existing hard drives to the new system (minus SSD) and after some driver installs everything worked fine. Then yesterday I found that I had a spare day so decided to do a clean install to the SSD. I disconnected all drives except for one DVD and the SSD. Windows 7 64 installed fine. Windows update did it's thing including SP1. All drivers were also installed and all hardware works. I then installed the software that I have and again all went well. My new system performs nicely and Windows reports no problems.
I initially did the activate later thing in PSP to check that it was working. No problems there. So I went to do an online activation. And I got the empty OK box. So I went to phone Corel and the Installation Code is empty. Next I phoned Corel and spoke to a nice man who recognised my problem and suggested that I do an uninstall and then a new install using a new user making sure it had admin priveledges. He said thta if that didn't help then they would have to send me a CD. So today I phoned and got an arrogant lady who basically told me that it was my fault but that they would send me a CD for the price of £30. After a few minutes of trying to get an explanation as to why it was so expensive and reequesting a different solution but getting absolutely nowhere I asked to speak to her suppervisor. She told me that she didn't have one and then hung up on me. I actually don't mind paying but £30 for a CD does seem a lot and is much more than I paid for the upgrade.
Please can anyone help?
(Up until today, each PSP upgrade has been fairly automatic for me. But no longer - next time I will look at the competitors.)

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
I have has the exact same experience. I cannot activate my X3. Unfortunately I could not find any key before Zone 0 on my PC.
One solution from Support:
Solution 2:
We were provided with a solution by one customer that worked in his case:
XP: Go to Start - Run and type "regedit". Hit the Enter key.
Vista/Windows 7: Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Run and type "regedit". Hit the Enter key.
You are now in the Registry.
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\

This extra zone prevents ActiveX controls from running on your local machine. Thus some content can’t display. This extra zone prevents desktop gadgets from being shown correctly.
If you want you can “Export” this key before you delete it, so you could restore it if needed."
Check if you also have this key and export it by clicking on File - Export. You can give the file a name of your choice.
After deleting that key, begin to install Paint Shop Photo Pro.

@bananahead
Please contact your Corel support in your country and ask for help in this case. Your security settings on your system are restricting another program to work as it should.
@raj
This provided solution was in context to another problem: on some Windows 7 OS customers can't continue to install the program because the License agreement window doesn't appear. The problem bananahead has is a different one.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Simone, thanks for the suggestions. The activation problem seems same as Bananahead. There is no activation code when I try to activate by phone. The installation went through fine and I am on trial period only! I received another email from support asking to disable many services and then install, I will try that when I am free. If that works I will report to the forum. A customer should not have to go through all this to get a software working! I have had many problems with software on this Win 7 64 bit.. this is not the first one. The developers need to work with MS to fix Win 7 64 bit problems as this OS comes with many PCs/laptops as default these days.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Help! This is my first time on here which will be very evident as I proceed. I have had Paint Shop Pro 7, 8 and 9. I also have had Paint Shop Photo 5, X, X2 and just purchased PaintShop Photo Pro X3. It goes without saying that some of these earlier versions were from Jasc before Corel bought them out. OK...so you know I am familiar with the program. I ordered the boxed version and it came about 2 weeks ago but I have been ill so just TRIED to install it last night. It will not install. It keeps telling me that my resolution is too low. It is as high as it will go. This monitor is a Dell S1709W Flat Panel Monitor and not brand new but not so old that I should be having problems like this. Please, if someone could tell me what I need to do just to install the program, it would be wonderful. Was so disappointed to find that Corel is only available Mon - Fri. Not good. What do working people do? OK..enough. Sorry to be venting my first time on here. I am a senior citizen and compared to many of my same aged peers am computer savy..but not this time. Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me.
Oh...sorry to have this as a "reply" but this is the first I have been able to find anything in relation to PSP after an hour of searching, reading FAQ's etc. I apologize.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Hi Judie.
What resolution is your monitor set to... it should be 1440 x 900 pixels. With LCD flat screen monitors, anything else will look pretty bad. If you can't get it to go that high, it probably means that either the video card driver, or the monitor driver is a very basic, default Windows one and you need to install the manufacturer's driver. You may have them on a discs that came with your computer. Or you could download them from the website of the manufacturer... Dell in the case of the monitor. If you have a Dell computer, you'll find both drivers by searching for the computer model... it might be something like "Inspiron 1720".
If the whole computer isn't a Dell model you will need to find the model of the graphics card or chip. You can do this by downloading and running the free Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html. Then download the correct driver from the manufacturer.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, my resolution is set to 1440 X 900. Think the problem may be that I have a HP computer and a Dell monitor. Hubby got the computer...I got the new monitor. I do have his Dell Driver and Documention disc. Would I really be messing up something by using this? Maybe I should try and reach HP & see if they can help me, but would still appreciate your answer. Will download the free program you listed and see what I come up with. Just cannot believe I am having to do all this to just update a program that I already have. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...but then again, that's where the "senior citizen" part comes in. Thanks again,
Judie

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Very strange. I'm not sure if updating your video driver will make a difference, but it won't do any harm. The best place to get it might be the HP site... you'll need to know your exact model of computer, but HP's site is pretty good at pointing you in the right direction.
Alternatively, us Belarc Advisor to find the model of the graphics card or chip's model, and get the driver from the manufacturer of that. Almost certainly that will be one of three companies... NVIDIA, ATI, or Intel.
Another thing I'd try...
Temporarily change your monitor's resolution to 1024 x 768. That is the minimum recommended resolution for PSP X3. The picture will look pretty bad, but try to install X3 and see if it will cooperate. Then change it back to 1440 X 900.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Hi Again and thanks again! I have been trying to fix my problem...just did 46 updates to Windows. =( Know my HP is current as they do a check enough to bother me! =) Also had added a Webcam but apparently never did what I was supposed to do with it. My son says get it...I got it..and was able to see their whole family very well. Now I wonder why! lol I tried what you suggested with the resolution. It didn't work but did pick up something that may or may not be helpful. It says I am using a "Generic PnP Monitor on Intel (R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family. Is this maybe a clue to what is wrong? My next step is calling HP. They may or may not help me but wanted you to know that I had tried to install with both the old and the new setting you had suggested but had no luck with either. I don't need to be tying up your Sunday with problems so will continue to find what I can on my own. Thanks again.

Re: PSP X3 Activation Hardship
Hi, Just got off a 45 minute call to HP and got some info but they wanted $$$ to help further as I am not under warranty anymore. He did tell me that there is no reason that my system should not be able to install this program. Although, I did not go to where it would have cost me, he did give me some information that I did not have before. My video card is Intel GMA 3100. The audio is ALC 888S 7.1 Channel High Definition Audio. Does this help any? Am so frustrated right now. My entire day so far has been about installing this program. I am beginning to wonder if it is even worth it. Thanks for your help.
