Hi
Navigation controls are set to “Auto repeat when playback ends”
I change this to “Continue to play next clip” which plays the disc and returns to menu.
The next time I come to use Video Studio it has reverted to the default option.
Earlier versions always retained the options set by the user.
Can someone check their version to see if you can duplicate this, or is it something to do with my settings?
Thanks

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Trevor,
I can not replicate this. When I set it to Auto Repeat... it sticks. Every subsequent time I open the burn module, and check the navigation control, it remained it did not revert to the default. I tried this by just choosing New Project from the editor, and also closing VS and reopening and still the setting remained as I set it.

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Hi Ron
thanks for the reply, obviousley i have run a few more tests.
I am using XP the problem occurs after re-booting the pc.
Most of the time it remains as selected, but thought it had reverted once, but each time I reboot the pc it reverts to the default.
I tried using X4 on Vista with no problems, just seems to be XP?

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Hi
I have re-installed X4
There are no patches to install
Updated Direct X
Checked files for “read only” which have given problems with earlier versions.
No success, each time I re-boot my pc the program reverts the “navigation controls” to their default state.
Now I may be my system, however it may be an X4 problem.
But its related to the XP Operating System. Vista has no problems!
So anybody out there running XP and X4 willing to look at this issue.
Do this:-
Launch X4
Share Create Disc – DVD
Choose the “options cogwheel”
View the Navigation Controls.
Deselect the “Auto Repeat when Playback Ends”
Press Ok
The next time you boot the pc go through the above.
Is the “Auto Repeat when Playback Ends” option selected?
with thanks

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Tried it on my XP machine, and yep, it reverts back to being checked. While I can see it to be annoying to some, for me personally it's just one of the list of things I normally go through and check or uncheck with each project anyway. The strange thing is that it does not do this on a Vista machine.

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Ok, I took your test further to see if it is just VS X4 that does this.
Versions used:
VS 10+, VS 11.5+, VS X2, and VS X4. VS X3 was not tested since it does not use the integrated DVD burning module. The tests performed on a WinXP HP machine.
Procedure:
I opened each version, went to Share>Create Disc>DVD. Then clicked on the Properties icon, went to the Navigation Control and un-checked the Auto Playback. I then closed the burn module, receiving the customary saving project progress bar. When I closed the editor/program and was presented with the prompt to save the project, I elected to save it. This was done for each version, as I wanted to also test to see if the Navigation setting would be saved when the project is saved. I then rebooted my machine.
Upon launching each version, I first went directly to the burn module, to the Navigation Control, and there observed that it had been reset, ie; a check in the box beside Auto Play.... I then opened the saved project file, proceeded to the Navigation Control in the burn module, and discovered that the setting was saved, ie; no check in the box.
The above was true for all versions tested. So my opinion is that this is not a "bug", or a fault with the program. This is apparently by design and has been that way for a loooong time.

Re: X4 Navigation Controls
Hi
Thanks for testing the process.
But I can assure you that the navigation controls on earlier versions used to remain as set.
It is only since I installed X4 that I noticed that it reverts back to its default state.
Although you have planted the seeds of doubt when it comes to X2.
However I am 100% sure that earlier versions did not do this.
So I suppose I ask for anyone not using X4 to try this out.
Re-installing all my programs may prove the point, but wont change the issue, so I’m left with remembering to hit the Options cogwheel, and once set that’s something I never have to do when burning a DVD.
