I have edited an mp4 video whose original frame size is 512x384. When I go to Share this edited mp4 video, I select the Create Video File option and then I select "Same as First Video Clip." I then get the following error message:
"The frame size (512x384) of the video file does not match the settings and therefore cannot be trimmed."
Why am I getting this error? How can the edited video not match its own frame size?
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
That's a particularly strange frame size. Where did it come from?

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
No idea. Just a video that I downloaded years ago. This isn't a big deal. I just would have thought that using this "Same as First Video Clip" setting would not encounter this problem. I of course have the option of selecting any pre-set setting or creating a custom setting with a frame size close to the original that the program will handle. As long as I'm not misunderstanding the "Same as First Video Clip" setting or doing something wrong is all I really care about.
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
I think it will set it as "same as first clip" if, in fact, it recognizes that size. Apparently in your case it does not.

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
FWIW, I just got a similar type of error using the "Same as First Video Clip" setting. I have a 30 minute avi file at 1280x720. I selected a short segment of this file and then sought to create a separate video file of it. I selected the "Same as First Video Clip" setting and got an error message that the program couldn't compress the file. Again, another instance where I'm simply trying to replicate the original specs following my editing with no conversion involved and the program balks, thus requiring a conversion of some sort.

Hi Robert
I find it very strange that you are being allowed to select the Same as First Clip option when using these frame sizes.
Generally this option is reserved for compliant video files. By that I mean DV-Avi, Mpeg 2, some HD Mpeg formats.
Can you tell us what version of Video Studio you are using? I’ve looked but maybe missed it on an earlier post.
From the timeline can you right click the original video file, select properties, what are they?
And what are you intending to do with the video file, create a DVD or for the internet, then we may be able to advise on alternative render options.

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
I'm using the most current version of VS Pro X4. I have no use for the video other than to extract the portion I want to keep and discard the rest. The properties are:
avi
compression Divx 6.9.2
24 bits, 1280x720
29.970 fps
511 data rate
Again, this is not a big deal to me, so no need to go to any extraordinary lengths. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Why do I get a Frame Size error?
Hi Robert
have you installed the latest version of Div X on your computer.?
Can you please fill in your profile to include your PC spicification?
A bit rate of 511kbs looks a little low quality, when the default Div X template uses 3000.
