Suppose I have a JPG 800 x 800, white background, and in the center is a rainbow swirl lolipop.
Is it possible with one click to mask out the lolipop? In Picture Publisher one would select the magic want, select the - key (which means remove) and click the white background. This would make a mask around the lolipop. But when I try this with X2 nothing happens. My guess is because the remove setting on the magic wand is only to remove a mask that is present. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: masking with one click
The remove mode removes the selected color from the current selection.
Masking takes two clicks. First with the Magic Wand select the area you want masked away. Then from the layer menu select New Mask ->Hide Selection. This will create an actual mask hiding the current selected pixels and groups it with the current layer.
Now, if you just want to delete the pixels instead of masking them away then you just have to hit Delete.

Re: masking with one click
Levi,
I'm wrong, even in PP10 one had to make two clicks. I did find another way. If I select the white area it will mask the white background. Then I go to SELECT and choose invert selection and the mask reverses so the lolipop is now masked.
PP was def. more logical regarding some tools but I'm starting to get comfortable now with Corel. Still, I've got a log to learn
Thanks,
Aug
