WELL, it doesn't!!
I've very carefully cvhecked all my programs and "it's not there"
So what do I do now! ??
Answer: I write here and slightly hope to be relieved of my problem by some knowing friend.

I don't know the answer, but I'll ask a few clarifying questions that the answers to may help others for you.
Have you ever had a version of VS installed before?
Did you install a trial version?
What is the exact point that it fails?
Does it give any other message?
Are you installing a downloaded copy or an actual disc copy?
If a download, try downloading again to see if the file got corrupted.
Do you have any other Corel/Ulead programmes?
Have you run through the clean uninstall process, http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=35007 this may help to clear any remants of an old version or something that may be blocking the installation process.
Have you checked to see if any antivrius or firewall that is running is not blocking installation?

Re: Claims an existing copy of VideoStudio Pro X4 already ex
I have Video Studio x4 Ultimate. I installed the software (long time Corel users, many previous versions of Video Studio, DVD MF, Office) The install didn't go well. Not short cuts, no executable file in the install directory. I attempted to install again. The product only gave the option to uninstall. So I attempted to uninstall. When it near the end, it say it is only valid for products that are installed and says no changes have occurred to my system. So I can't uninstall or install the product.
I also can't download the clean up program. The download prompts for a user name and password. Not one of the registry keys exist in my Windows 7x64 pro system.

Abiel's post is dated back to March. What I've found is that the ftp links expire in a short time, which appears to be the case. I get a 530 error, not logged in. The link for the VS X4 cleanup utility is found in Corel's KB, HERE
