First question: I'm importing 1080p video at 24 fps (acutal 23.976) from a Nikon D7000. What would the proper preference settings be?
Second question: How does one render the project? (I'm used to using Adobe Premiere Elements 9, where you simply have to hit the "Enter" key.)
Thanks!

Re: How to set correct Project Settings in VS Pro X4?
Hi
and welcome to the forums
Can you give a little more detail regarding your video file.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they.?
Can you tell us what you are intending to make , a DVD. Bluray, or a video file for the internet.
We can then advise on your render/output settings.
Project Properties are generally based around standard video sizes, but provided you use 16:9 as the aspect ratio then you will be ok. 16:9 is set by default.
Preferences
These allow you to customise some settings generally used during editing.
Image / audio / transition durations etc.
To render your project select Share Create Video File, its here where you select the output options.

Re: How to set correct Project Settings in VS Pro X4?
Thanks for your interest.
A little background: I'm currenty using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 for my video work. I have a great DVD burner, but no Blu-Ray burner. Premiere 9 has no way to directly burn 1080p files to a DVD. (There is no AVCHD output option.) So I'm outputing my Premiere 9 projects as MPEG2 1080p 23.976 fps Blu-Ray M2T files and saving them to my computer hard drive. I then import the M2T video files into VS Pro X4, combine them in the Sceneline and burn them as AVCHD DVDs. I can get up to around 40 minutes of HD 1080p video on a DVD. And they work perfectly in my Sony Blu-Ray player. Nice! All works well, but it's cumbersome to have to work through two different programs to get what I want.
My intent is to quit using Premiere 9 and work strictly out of VS Pro X4 to edit, then burn AVCHD Blu-Ray 1080p videos onto DVDs. I just don't want to lose any output quality by having incorrect import settings partially cripple the 1080p 23.976 fps video files from the camera.

Re: How to set correct Project Settings in VS Pro X4?
I think after you've dropped your camcorder clips on the timeline, you will need to share to a file first, before going to create disc.
For whatever reason, if you go straight from the timeline to Share > Create disc with avchd 1920x1080p 24 fps clips, smart render won't be used to create the disc.
To share to a file first, go Share > Create Video File > Same as First Video Clip.
That one file will now smart render in the Create Disc module.
After you are in the Create Disc module, remove the "project" from the storyboard because that won't smart render, then add the one file previously created in VSP to the storyboard. You can drag and drop it from Explorer or click the Add File icon.
Note that everytime you open up the Create Disc module that the VSP project will be in the storyboard again along with the one file. The VSP project may not be the first thumbnail in the storyboard. You'll have to remove the "project" again.
Here's explicit instructions for creating a project with 60 fps. Just substitute 60 with 24. http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 30#p215871

Re: How to set correct Project Settings in VS Pro X4?
Hello Nikon1080p,
Importing a video alone will not change any of its properties and as for your 2nd question, I'm not familiar with Adobe Premier but if you want to know how to render a project, here's what you need to do.
To render a project is to create or encode it to become a video file.
1. Click the Create Video File button in the Share Options Panel. A pop-up menu showing several options of creating a video file will be displayed.
2. To create a movie file using the current project settings, select Same as Project Settings.
Or, select one of the preset movie templates. These templates let you create a movie file that is suitable for the Web or for output to DV, DVD, WMV, and MPEG-4.
To check current project settings, click Settings > Project Properties. To check the saving options provided by a movie template, select Settings > Make Movie Templates Manager.
You can also use the settings of the first video clip in the Video Track by selecting Same as First Video Clip.
3. Enter the desired file name for your movie and click Save. The movie file will then be saved and placed in the current library.
You can also render your project partially. SmartRender technology saves time when generating previews by rendering only the parts that have been modified from your last render operation.
You can also visit: http://bit.ly/ijlomb for other ways on how to share or export your project.

Hi
You have already used the process to create a DVD, you said
“I then import the M2T video files into VS Pro X4, combine them in the Sceneline and burn them as AVCHD DVDs.”
Simply import the original Nikon D7000 clips to the timeline, edit the timeline and burn them as AVCHD DVDs.
There is however two approaches
1 / as above will render the project in the burner module prior to the burning process.
2 / first render the project to a compliant file using Share Create Video File-AVCHD
(or “Same as first video” if available)
Then Start a New Project—Share Create Disc—Avchd—add video file .
The second option will allow you to manually control the video conversion properties either by using a Custom option or creating your own template using Make Movie Templates Manager.
Goodbye Premiere 9
