Re: Bring x4 file back into x3
If you are talking about X4 project files .vsp, the only way is to Save As and select as Format X3. Otherwise, X3 can never read X4 files. Versions of VS are backwards compatible, but not forward...

Re: Bring x4 file back into x3
My problem is that I downloaded and purchased x4 - only to have it quit on me. I've spent weeks trying to reinstall it with no success. The problem is that I started a project in x4 before it quit on me. I have gone through all the hoops that have been mentioned on this board and others. I cannot reinstall x4 -period. I thought that it might be something with Windows, but I've reinstalled x3 without problem.
I have decided to try Power Director as well.

Hi Gary
You need X4 to open the VSP, then you can save as a back issue.
But if you cannot install X4 then you can e-mail me the VSP
I will save it for X3 compliant and send it back.
Yes i will get a Re-Link request as i dont have your files, but i can ignore that.
Should work.

Re: Bring x4 file back into x3
Thank you Abiel for your help. I followed your instructions to the letter. I used the cleanup and the manual removal of the vsx4. The install did start up, but got up to the 28% level before a message came up. I tried it about 6 times, all the same result.

Re: Bring x4 file back into x3
Gary,
I've just experienced a similar error, however it had to do with SmartSound QT5. While attempting to get some older sound files into Sonic Fire Pro, I managed to mess up the install of SS QT5. So anyway I received a very similar error. You need to look at the file it is asking for, the *.msi file. You should also see a Browse button, which can be used to go look for that file. It should be located under the Setup folder.

Re: Bring x4 file back into x3
I FINALLY GOT IT! It took me about a dozen tries, each one made a little further progress on the status bar, until it finally installed - so I'm happy again. I followed the step-by-step instructions as posted above. I'm not sure I understand why, but the vs I downloaded stated 15......., but the one actually loading and that I'm working with is 14.0... I'm not sure what that is all about.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
