How did you move the projects? Did you just move the VSPs or did you also move all the clips associated with them?

Hi

When you moved them, I assume you copied them, so the originals are still on the laptop.

Go to X3 open each project, File – Smart Package.

Will create a complete package of your project.

Copy each Smart Package to the desktop.

I doubt very much that you will burn 8 discs by 7 pm, but you never know

Good luck

PS can't you just burn them on the laptop?

Yep my laptop burns okay alot slower than my main machine , but they have vanished from the laptop , but alls well that ends well thanks again mate :)

When I move or copy files and folders from my laptop to my desktop, which is also wireless, I sometimes forget where. So what I've done is find or create a dummy file, or create a copy of a file, then select the move command. I think most Windows systems remember and try to use the same location as was previously used. So this will tell me the location. I may not complete the move, as I was just needing Windows to tell me where it is looking. Then I go to that location on my desktop to see if the files are there. Just a thought you might try. I've moved and copied files hundreds of times and so far never had one just vanish.

Another thing to remember for future use, UNDO. This has got me out of more trouble. It works also for move and copy. I have inadvertently selected a wrong file while moving files, and using the UNDO saved me. So when you move files, and in your case, you go look to see that the files were moved/copied, and find they're not where you thought, just go to the Edit menu, select Undo, which I think it will say UNDO MOVE. It will return the files so you can try again... ;)

Hi stivessheep

Maybe you should consider using the File--Smart Package option.

This creates a folder containing all the clips within a project.
You could then “Copy” this folder to another pc.

Because it contains all clips, the project file VSP will open without re-linking.

A good way to backup the project.

edit
Upps sorry i have mentioned that before, comes with age..........
