Hello p_l,

DVD MovieFactory 6 is not compatible with Windows 7, You can visit http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 4516325170, to know which version of the Corel Software is compatible with Windows 7.

There is a workaround for you to make old program works on Windows 7, however we cannot assure you this is a 100% fool proof. You can use the Windows 7 Program Compatibility and the Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC, which are both from Microsoft.

You can follow the steps for Windows 7 Program Compatibility from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... of-Windows

You can download and install the Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx. (still depend on your Windows 7 edition)

You also want to consider upgrading your Corel software, since the latest version of Video Studio is full compatible with Windows 7, you can download the 30 day full working trial at http://www.corel.com/trials.

Thank you for your reply.

I notice that any iteration of DVD MovieFactory is conspicuously absent from that Windows 7 compatibility list, including even MovieFactory 7.

I also understand that MovieFactory 6 came out before Windows 7 was released, and therefore it's listed as compatible with XP and Vista.

But what I'd like to know is if MovieFactory 6 in fact works on Windows 7, either directly or in compatibility mode.

I'm afraid you are going to have to suck it and see for yourself. Abiel doesn't believe almost anything is compatible with Windows 7 except the latest and greatest. I am not so sure about that. But I only have MF 7 Pro (and SE on another computer) with my active computers. And both work fine with Win 7. I also know that quite a few programs which are not supposed to be compatible with Win 7 nonetheless work just fine with it. So try it out for yourself rather than waiting for the rare person here to tell you they have already tried it. I personally don't recall anyone here saying so. But try for yourself. I have MF 6 somewhere or other on one of my computers (I hasve 8) but am not prepared to try to find it an try it on one of my Win 7 computers...

Ok well here I am, maybe too late for the OP's party but...

MF6+ works just fine on my W7 x64 computer. No special "compatibility mode" needed either. I haven't used it for some months, but just ran it now again (my W7 is to all latest updates) and it runs perfectly. Have used it to make both BDs and HD-DVDs...

I had forgotten about this thread. And in fact, subsequent to writing the above, I found and installed MF6 on a Windows 7 computer in relation to another thread. Like maxblack, I had no trouble with it. It seems to work just fine without any special compatibility mode...

Actually, thank you both for the confirmation. Ken, was your Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit?
