How to install Project Creator?

Post by JustAnotherDude »

I purchased Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate testerday and elected to download the software. Included were several other packages, such as "PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Project Creator".

I installed the PaintShop Photo Pro X3 software with no problems.

Next, I tried to install the Project Creator software. It opens the dialog for PaintShop Photo Pro X3. I can not get it to open its own installation dialog. Even the path listed for the PaintShop Photo Pro X3 setup.exe installer is the same.

I tried downloading the software again, but result is same.

How can I install the Project Creator software?

Thanks for any advice/suggestions, I appreciate your time.

When I downloaded PSPP X3 the project creator was part of the download. If you installed PSP, you installed it all, there wasn't any separation. That being said the Project Creator isn't worth the effort. It's all but useless and really degrades the whole PSP experience. If you have any other program at all to do anything that you wanted with the Project Creator just stick with that. It really is a waste of code.

FOLLOW-UP:

It turns out that the dialog for the Project Creator software is titled "PaintShop Photo Pro X3", and it uses the same serial number. Only later in the installation process is there any indication that it is the Project Creator being installed, and not "PaintShop Photo Pro X3" as the title of the install dialog indicates.

In my opinion, that is a very poor user interface, because it appears that the wrong installer is being launched. In fact, on my purchase receipt there are serial numbers for most of the individual downloads, but none is listed for the Project Creator. When the install dialog asked me for a serial number, and was titled in LARGE font "PaintShop Photo Pro X3", I was confused, and thinking that somehow the wrong software was being loaded.

This was my mistake, but could so easily have been avoided if the User Guide *OR* the installation instructions at the web site STATED what to expect, and to enter the same serial number as "PaintShop Photo Pro X3" when installing the Project Creator.

This is the kind of thing that I've run in to with Corel software, like since forever. It is very frustrating!

Thanks for the feedback.

In fact, there were 7 individual files to download for the PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate package. The Project Creator was one of them. I will give it a try to see what it does. I'm a hobbyist, and don't really create "projects" [yet], so don't have other software to do whatever. I only wanted PSP X3 because I heard it is a good editor, and sometimes want/need to adjust/tweak my pictures.

Thanks again for your feedback.
