What version are you using?

Apparently some data (*.dat) files have been corrupted. Should not be that difficult to fix. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Ulead Sytems\Corel VideoStudio Pro. If your having this problem with VS X3, open the 13.0 folder, locate and delete the VS_Video.dat file. You could also just delete the whole 13.0 folder. Once you restart VS, that folder will be rebuilt.

If you have any custom libraries you will lose them, so you may want to first back-up these files:
  • VS_Video.dat
  • VS_Title.dat
  • VS_Project.dat
  • VS_Image.dat
  • VS_Flash.dat
  • VS_Decoration.dat

I too cannot open VS pro X3 because of this error. Running windows 7 - 4 gig memory, I was trying to delete thumbnails from the base video library group and VS hung for over 10 minutes. I closed the program (hard close via program manager) now when I open it i get Load from stream error" on each of the thumbnails I tried to delete then the program hangs. I tried your suggestion above and found the file under the folder /ulead.dat. That did not work. I then deleted the folder 13.0 under documents that you listed above and again that did not work. I am at my wits end.

Deleting the six mentionned *.dat files did not work for me in VS 14 PRO. Instead, I deleted ALL the contents of the "14" folder without deleting the folder itself (You may, of course first keep a safety copy at another location in case you are afraid something could go wrong). After reopening Video Studio it took some more time for the program to open as it reconstructed from scratch everything I had deleted. But after that, no error anymore. The only thing you are losing are your self made directories as VideoStudio now only shows its default directories.
Sorry for my poor english but I am using a french version of VS 14.

I just had this problem with VS X9. This helped:

Close VideoStudio, go to Start Menu and type this on the search field (on Windows Vista/7) or Run command (on Windows XP): %appdata%
Hit the enter key to open the Application folder (on Windows XP) or the "Roaming" folder (on Windows Vista/7). Then go to the "Ulead Systems" folder > "Corel VideoStudio Pro" folder (there could be two of these folders, one with "(x64)" at the end for 64 Bit Systems), and rename the "19.0" folder (e. g. to "19.0-backup").

Then restart VS. It will rebuild the folder. You might have to start VS again after this.

THIS is why old topics should never be deleted!!

I know it's over 5 years old, but I just had this error, and through following the instructions of going to search, typing %appdata% yada yada yada, just saved me from having to redo 3 weeks of work!!

Thank you!!
