DVD Movie factory 7 Pro and Windows 7 requires extra

Post by Dookus »

When a file is imported in this program on windows 7 an install dialogue launches, and requests a MSI file called "Corel DVD MovieFactory 7.MSI" located at "C:\Windows\Temp\Corel DVD MovieFactory 7\"
The original install file was not an MSI but a .exe.
What is this and why?
Cheers and thanks

Welcome to the forums, :)

There is a file called Corel DVD MovieFactory 7.msi that is included with the setup files. The installation files I have came in a zip file. Here is a screenshot of the files once extracted, one of them being that msi file.

If you only have exe files, you can try downloading a free zip utility called 7zip, which does allow unzipping some exe files. Try extracting your file into a folder on your system, not the "Temp" folder. Most of the time programs use that folder to extract the temp files needed for installing. Once the install procedure is complete, those files are then deleted.

Thanks
Extracted the package with Uniextract (already had that installed, had 7zip 64 installed also but it could only compress the file)
Pointed the installer towards the file and it claimed it was not the file, the file was the correct name.

So not sure how to deal with this.

What type of file are you trying import when you get this message? Is it just that one type of file, or does it happen with about any file type? Also you have installed the Update patches for DVD MF7. If not you can download them from here... http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5525182943

Both .ts and .mpg.
I have to cancel the attempt to "install" 7 times before it allows me to proceed and edit the files, so it's not as though the program is unusable, it's annoying, and it does it again once the process is finished.
It did not do this in Vista or XP.
