Which service packs need to be installed in windvd 2010 Pro?

Post by billdep »

I am running WinDVD 2010. It has never been updated. I found five different service packs for WinDVD 2010 listed on the Corel website. Does one need to install all five of these service packs, or does installing only service pack #5 bring the WinDVD 2010 up to date?

Thanks,

Hello billdep,

If you have not updated your WinDVD even for once, it is suggested to download and install all updates. You can visit: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 5746622377, for all the updates of WinDVD 2010 Pro.

It has never, to my knowledge, been Corel's practice to roll earlier patches into later ones. So install them all sequentially.

You should be able to skip patches 2-4. You must install patch #1 before you install patch #5.

Thanks for the response to my query. However, when I tried to install the service packs, I got an error stating that the program (WinDVD 2010 could not be found. I am running Widows 7 - 64 bit on my computer. The program is located under [Program Files (X86)] rather than [Program Files].

Any suggestion as to how to get around this impasse so that I can update my copy of WinDVD 2010?

Many thanks,

WGD

You should be able to download and install the latest upgrade from within the application:

Click Corel Guide (clock symbol) > Product information and preferences (gears symbol) > check for updates.

Give that a try.

Addendum (7 Apr'11) - I have duplicated the error messages you report, confirming that SP 5 cannot be installed because the patch cannot locate the WinDVD installation folder. When I attempt to install the update from within the application, clicking download now utterly fails.

Obviously Corel needs to do more to support this product.

This site does NOT list the latest updates. Although perhaps it is the bigger service packs.

Note I up currently showing a message about a new update (not that new since it mentions January) but for some reason it will not load.

See cpp78 response on 12 Apr'11:

That's about the best you can do until Corel fixes the glitch.
