PSP X2 Illegally Modified ?

Post by pmanzari »

I've been using a legal, registered copy of PSP X2 Ultimate for about 2 years. Last week, I started getting an error message on startup saying that the software was corrupt or illegally modified". This happened immediately after my CA EZ Armor firewall crashed and burned forcing me to convert to Microsoft Security Enhancements and MS Firewall. I am running an XP machine with Service Pack 2.

The support request that I submitted online just had me check if Protexis is running. It was. I tried reinstalling from scratch several times. I tried shutting off the firewal and anti virus. Nothing works. Trying to call tech support results in half hour wait times.

Any other definitive ideas?

Thanks.

Check to see if the Protexis Licensing service is still enabled. It must be running in order for PSP to function. Note you may have to reboot after re enabling the service.

Sorry, I missed that you already tried that

Hello pmanzari,

Unfortunately the best solution for this is to contact the Corel Customer Service. You can reach them by using the number here.

Just a thought. . . you mentioned Protexis is running, but is your firewall blocking it?

I tried to install and run with a disabled firewall and a disabled anto virus and there was no improvement.

I have a job and a life so waiting for half hour for tech support is a non-starter.

At this point, I am no longer a Corel customer.

Just to follow up --- I reloaded my older version of X1 and it works fine. There is not enough of a difference between X1 and X2 to fret about it.
