My PSPX2 stopped working - would not load up - so I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it. When trying to install the install wizard status gets to almost the end and then hangs for hours (overnight). The only way to take control of the PC is to stop the install via Windows Task Manager. I have chatted to support and tried the various ideas they suggeted without success. Since then I have been unable to chat to them on line - it doesnt appear to be available. I have attached the transcript of the chat which we terminated due to me requiring to reboot my pc...

You can now install a fresh copy of the program from the original DVD installer along with the other Bonus software then try to update from within the program.

Re: PSP Ultimate Photo X2 - Re Install Hangs
Hello adrianwhyte,
You may want update your Windows XP to the latest Service Pack. Also if you have an anti-virus and anti-spyware, you may want to disable them as well as the UAC or temporary disable the Data Execution Prevention.
Here's what you can do.
1. Open "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu.
2. Double-click or open "System" (in Classic View). This will open the "System Properties" dialog box. You can also open the "System Properties" dialog box by right clicking on "My Computer" then selecting "Properties".
3. Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on the [Settings] button under the "Performance" section.
4. Go to the "Data Execution Prevention" tab.
5. Choose the second option which is "Turn on DEP for all except..."
6. If "" is still not on the list, click on [Add] then browse for the "" executable file from the "Program Files".
7. Apply the changes then click "Ok".
From Microsoft:
To monitor your programs, hardware-enforced DEP tracks memory locations declared as "non-executable". To help prevent malicious code, when memory is declared "non-executable" and a program tries to execute code from the memory, Windows will close that program. This occurs whether the code is malicious or not.

Re: PSP Ultimate Photo X2 - Re Install Hangs
Abiel,
Tried what you suggested on the partly installed PSPPU X2 and run the install again to try the repair option to fix the previous install attempt - the repair option runs and finishes but the programme PSPPU X2 does not (and uses most of the pc resouces until I end it). I then did a complete unistall using the PSP utility in Answer ID: 762149 and rebooted the machine and again tried an install, alas as previous this again hung the pc - needing a Task Manager "Corel PSP..." End Process intervention after say 30 mins.
I have XP Pro with SP3 and all the recent updates installed. Something I am not sure about is the UAC you mention.
I did as you suggest also disable the N360 V5 firewall and AV autoprotect before install.
Is the uninstall thorough or does it need a Registry clean up. If so can you detail the registry tree/ keys et that need tobe cleared out.
What is annoying is that it install 1st time a year or so ago and worked untill recently.
