Hello,
I've been looking for the answer to this for a while now and nothing seems to work.
I have a two layer image:
layer 1. background
layer 2. A transparent vector layer with text
I have a second image, the same exact size and resolution as the first two layer image. I would like to paste layer 2 from the first image, into the same exact position on image 2. Every time I paste. it centers the text, whether it is just a ctrl-v, or a paste layer. I've even tried promoting the layer 2 in the first image then pasting as new layer into image two, with no luck. Everything I've done pastes layer 2 from image one, into the center of image 2.
Any ideas, seems like it should be simple. I have PSP Photo X2
Thanks in advance,
D

Re: Copy and Paste Layer into Exact Location
I'm assuming that what you paste isn't as big as the layer itself, and PSP just centers what you paste disregarding the position you previously had the object. There's likely a better way but what I do is to place something in opposing corners. If it's a raster layer I simply paint something in the corners, copy and paste, then erase the paint. It's crude but it is one solution. If you're using a vector layer I'd do something to keep the layer as a vector (unless that really wasn't important but I'd assume it was).
Regards, Dan

Re: Copy and Paste Layer into Exact Location
I actually had a script for this very purpose a few years back. Too bad I lost it. Might look into it again.
If you want to do the same thing that Df suggested but with Vectors you can create an invisible rectangle that's larger, and centered, than the canvas. All you would have to do is select both the rectangle and the text before you did a copy and paste. Also, like Df's suggestion, it's hacky but it does work.

You could try selecting the text, copying it and pasting it as a new selection in the second image. That way you could put it where you want it.

Re: Copy and Paste Layer into Exact Location
On the layer that you want to copy, add two pixels on diagonally opposite corners. The colour of the pixels doesn't matter much, but the important thing is to set their opacity at only 1%.
Now copy your layer and it will be the size of your full image, and paste into the correct position. The 1% opacity pixels in the corners will ensure that. They will almost certainly be impossible to see, but you can erase them after pasting if they are visible.

Why not do this the other way around:dixyflat wrote:Hello,

Shift+D to duplicate image 1 + the text.
If image 1 and image 2 are the same size, you can drag image 2 on top of image 1 below the text layer.
The text layer will still be the same and will be where you want it.
Then delete image 1.

Re: Copy and Paste Layer into Exact Location
I know the post is old - but here is my solution that works.
-Using the pick tool, select the entire picture.
-Copy the entire picture.
-Paste the entire picture as a new layer.
-select the area you wish to keep.
-chose "selections - invert"
-delete the inverted selection.
voila!!! a simple copy and paste in place!!
Just like doing a mask.
