Hi really need some help before i go crazy. I have been making a header with text on and it looks amazing even really close up in the paint shop but when i save it and look at it again its really fuzzy. I have tried everything i can think of such as saving it as jpeg, tif etc and have tried every dpi setting i can think of and also tried to make it as a rastor & vector images etc. the header i am making has to be 850 x 150 in size for my website. heres an example of what happens:
really hope someone can help me...its prob something silly im doing wrong but am at a loss x x x
What will sometimes help, particularly in XI and X2:
1. Create your new image as 850 x 150 pixels, 72 pixels/inch
2. Flood fill your background color
3. Resize the image: uncheck Resample using, and set Resolution to 300 pixels/inch
4. Set the text tool to the desired font, size, colors, and stroke width (not too big on the stroke width); Anti-alias should be Sharp, and Create as should be Vector
5. Set your text onto the image, and position it as desired
6. Resize the image again: uncheck Resample using (should still be uncheked), and set Resolution back to 72 pixels/inch
7. Resize yet again: Resample usingshould be checked, and the Pixel dimensions should be 850 x 150 pixels
8. Save the image, merging down, as a .jpg (using minimum compression, as Abiel suggested)
Because you are not printing your image, the Resolution value, which deals with print size, should not make a difference. However, I have seen unpredicted interaction between resolution and text behavior. Temporarily changing the resolution to 300 pixels/inch will sometimes work around this. There is probably more to this, but I have bumped upon it by trial-and-error.
