DV -AVI codec Problem

Post by pupcoec »

Hi All

In VS9 I am experiencing the following problem:

I think that i have somehow deleted my DV codec that shipped with my OS (Win XP Pro). I think this happened when i was installing a codec pack. and once i removed the codec pack it seemed to take the microsoft DV codec with it. I have been unable to get the codec back since and have tried reinstaling the codec pack.

I have run a codec diagnostic tool called Sherlock which reports that the DV Video Encoder is missing.

When ever i try to run a DV encoded video in VS i get the following error:

Class not registered
[17103:5:1]

does any one know which dll file i need to replace and what registry entry i need to enter to fix the problem. any other solutions would also be appreciated.

Please can someone help.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

Try the Microsoft site and do a search. They have it for download there.

Microsoft's DV codec is implemented using the QDV.DLL file, which should be in the Windows\System32 directory. If it's present, then running REGSVR32 qdv.dll should reregister it in the Windows Registry. If the file is missing, then using Repair on the Windows Setup CD will fix it, or you can copy the file from another Windows box and register it manually.
