WinDVD 2010 always shows Play in upper left of screen

Post by solwing »

While watching a blu-ray or dvd when you click play or pause WinDVD will display in the upper left area of the screen the word "Play" or "Pause". This message never goes away, even in full screen. So for the entire movie in the upper left area will be the word Play as that's the last button I pushed. Note there are other messages like if you change the subtitle or audio track. None of which will ever disappear, it will simply be replaced with the latest message, but there are always words up there.

Is there anyway to turn off or hide these messages, it's distracting when watching a movie to always see the word Play or something else in the upper left corner.

I don't have WinDVD 2010, only its immediate predecessor. But can we assume you have looked at the set-up menu under the little cogwheel icon in the top right of screen? I am thinking in particular about whether, under Player Preference, you have 'Enable On-Screen Display' ticked or not...

That was the setting, I toggled it in an attempt to fix this before, but apparently it doesn't take effect until you restart the application. Thanks a lot for pointing it out.

FYI in 2010 you have to right-click and select Setup to get to these settings, there is no gear or icon to get there.

Thanks again!
