X2 Smart Render being applied when it shoudn't be..

Post by ultra »

Hi,

Is it possible that Smart Render could occur if you take a VSP
file directly to the burn module in X2 ?

I am bypassing making a video file. I do not want Smart Render applied but
it appears to me that it is.

Have I missed a control in the burn module that enables or disables Smart
Render ?

Also have X3 and MF7 installed.

Thank You !

I don't think it can be turned off when going straight from your project to the burn module. I am puzzled, though, why you don't want it, as it protects your clips from being unnecessarily re-rendered. Of course this only works if the project and clip properties match.

If you really need to turn off SmartRender you will have to first create a video file of your project, and at the Save dialog box, click on the Options button. There you can turn off SmartRender.

I also did not think Smart Render could be activated from the burn module, however it appears to me that could have changed since I installed X3 and MF7.

Several months ago I did installed X3 and MF7. Since that time I have spent little or no time on X2. However a few day's ago I returned to X2 to finish up a project of MPG-2 files.

Before even continuing to edit I decided to create a DVD. I did this by clearing the time line and then importing the VSP file into the X2 burn module. However upon review of the burned DVD I noticed quite a bit of picture stutter. I had previously burned that project several times before with no stutter.

I then decide to make a video file (Share>Create Video file) with Smart Render unchecked. Took that file into the X2 burn module, checked off the do not convert complaint video box and the resulting DVD showed NO stutter.

I then did the exact same procedure (Share>Create Video file) except this time I checked the Smart Render box. The stutters were back and in the identical locations they were in the video rendered from the VSP.

Additionally I took several clips of the more noticeable stutters and applied a slight color correction to them. I then jumped directly to the burn module and the resulting DVD showed NO stutters on the clips I color corrected and stutters on the ones I left alone. I think that show's the clips I color corrected
got re-coded and thus smart render was not applied to them, but smart render is being applied to all the others.

I wonder if it is possible that some sort of a conflict between MF7 and X2 exists on my machine. I have noticed at times MF7 give's you the choice to use Smart Render.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Thanks!
