Burning DVD

Post by ZL52 »

I have been attempting to burn a DVD of a VSP project using Movie Factory 7 SE. I am unable to find and open this project file as the programme won't recognise the file under 'All Formats'. I know that the file is in the library and I have also copied it to the desktop to ensure that there is definitely a copy available to be opened.
Should the project be rendered before using Movie Factory to burn it and if so, how.
The file properties are: PAL 25fps, MPEG files, 24 bits 720 x 576 25fps Lower field first [DVD.PAL] 16:9 Edit file format MPEG files.
I would appreciate any help available. Many thanks. Roy.

Since you have MF 7SE, I am assuming you got it as part of Video Studio X3. Unfortunately, MF 7 -- either Pro or SE -- cannot recognise X3 VSP files, as you have found. So you have to first render the project in X3: Share > Create Video File > DVD (or Same as First Clip if a clip with the properties you set out is in fact the first in the project). Then you open MF 7 SE (and X3 will close). You then insert your new video clip into the MF timeline, build your menu, and burn. Make sure that the box in the Options cogwheel icon to the bottom left of screen saying "Do not convert compliant MPEG files", is ticked. That way, no further rendering should take part as part of the burning process, apart from converting the menu to DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
