PSPPX3U : question about selection tool

Post by Kappes Buur »

I have looked through the various tabs and could not find it.

In PSP, it seems that, once the selection is made

the outline cannot be adjusted.

In other programs, such as XnView,

the selection has grab points, which allow the selection to be adjusted precisly.

Is that missing in PSP, or am I just not looking in the right spot ?

You can generally do the same thing. You just have to set it up to edit the selection and use the Pick tool.

So after you've made the selection, you can either go to the Selections menu and select "Edit Selection" you'll then get the ruby overlay of your selection. In this mode you can edit the selection with any number of tools, including the paint tool, the fill bucket tool, crop tool, perspective correction, straighten...and so on and so forth.

You can move the selection to a different location. You can use the Pick tool using either Scale (to resize) or one of the other modes to free transform the selection. While the general selection is not editable right away using the Edit Selection option you can really gain a lot of functionality over the selection.

You can also turn on the edit selection option from the Layers palette it's the button that looks like a paintbrush in front of a selection marquee.

Now, using the Move tool you can move a selection by right-clicking on it and moving it. This is also true of any of the selection tools.
