Smokey/Misty Title Effect
I am looking for a title effect that fades in a smokey or misty title and fades out the same way. Has anyone out there used something like this and/or can point me in the right direction? I am using VSPX3.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Smokey/Misty Title Effect
I can't think of anything that VS has that will do this, but Digital Juice has some nice smoke effects that you could probably do it with.

Re: Smokey/Misty Title Effect
Well, I couldn't find anything at Digital Juice. Well, nothing that I wanted to pay for anyway. So I compromised with an effect VSPX3. I kind of like the effect. You can check it at the link below.

Re: Smokey/Misty Title Effect
I have one more suggestion..
I use Bluff Titler DX9 Pro, and it does have a particle effect called Mist. I'm rendering one right now, that I'll drop into VS, create a short clip, then upload that to YouTube so you can see what it looks like. The program is really not that expensive, and makes a great tool to compliment video.
I also use Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio, however it is no longer available, was dropped a long time ago by Corel. It is a very powerful 3D program.
Here's a quick example of what Bluff Titler can do. The background image is one of the samples provided with VS X3.
The next example I threw in another example at the end of what's possible with Bluff Titler.
One final example. I used the same 3D title with the smoke effect from Bluff Titler, placed on overlay track 1. On overlay track 2, I placed a black color clip with the transparency set at about 50-60%. I added New Blue FX's Day for Night filter from the Video Essentials IV, to the title clip, and VS's Light filter to the black color clip.

Re: Smokey/Misty Title Effect
Ron,
Thanks for all of the help and the effort. My initial vision was to have the text materialize from the mist or smoke, pause for a few seconds, then de-materialize into mist or smoke. I think there are some useful potentials with your suggestions though. I'll check them and see what I can come up with.

Hi
I assumed you wanted fiery text, but for a Misty Background
Try using colour clip in the overlay track (Grey)
Apply Chrome Mask Frame -- Gradient
Apply Cloud Filter and Whirlpool (may need to customise)
This will create a misty background
Create text (white) to Zoom in from 0 to 1 then fly out to top right.
Apply transparent text (3 for border—70 transparent—Black line colour)
You could play for hours with these filters and settings.

Re: Smokey/Misty Title Effect
Trevor,
Hello. Thanks for the suggestion. I was trying to figure out how the text itself could form from wispy, mist or smoke. Each letter would form from a smokey amorphous shape to become a visible letter and then dissolve into the same wispy, smokey amorphous shape and disappear. I like a lot of the suggestions and they give me some more tools for a additional creativity.
